What do you consider the ideal motor for a SRB? Which gear ratio do you use?

At present I have a standard 540 with the 15:70 gears. Using a Sanyo 2400 NiCd and old Futaba ESC. Excellent run time!

I mostly run on short grass or damp sand, nothing too rough.

Many thanks guys.

My ranger project is now fitted with the 65 spur gear and a 19 pinion from a tl01 with a standard can 540 motor from a tb02 quite fast can do dohnuts on carpet and is quick in the garden as well.

going to try the spur gear from my tb02 the 55 spur gear looks like it would fit im hoping to fit an lrp buggy special motor a 27 turn stock motor 22,000 rpm i have one in an ff02 i got from ebay and its plenty good enough.

More importantly, correct me if Im wrong, that gearbox was made only to accept the stock 540 and any of the other motors that have the sealed end; if you try using a modified, the endbell will get in the way of the plastic end cap which holds the motor in place. You can use a modified, but that (in my case anyways) would consist of cutting down the side of the gearbox that the motor endbell sticks out of so that the aluminum is not shorting everything out and then I drilled through the other side of the gearcase so I could actually use screws to hold the motor like it is normally mounted in a car.
