Okay so about 10 days ago I knee jerk bought a super blackfoot, it was my intention to then by a Blitzer body or scorcher body and make an inexpensive monster beetle. Now it's here, and after the gaudy rainbow vomit stickers that were already coming off, we're removed this is what we have...7034ddd42fa4e7f5c6bca3aa0f0a6f2a.jpg74989157e7fed10187e16b2ba73076e7.jpgb09f72cbf6f882667632ee7d1962d7e0.jpgd7264708dad1f103974ba63f0074b2ed.jpg

A few road scars on the chassis and the body, as well as a slight split in the hood from body mount hole to windshield.

Overall not bad but it was described as used like new no damage. I mentioned this to the seller and a minor but acceptable partial refund is being granted.

Here's the main question is it that rare should I keep it or move it on? It's nice but I have other tastes that could be satisfied. Oh. It's been used so little the tires aren't glued and it has the original plastic bushing.

In your position, I'd stick with your original plan. Buy the Beetle shell and build a 'Super Monster Beetle'. You could always keep the Blackfoot shell as a spare or tidy it up for shelf duty if you want to keep the car complete (or at least complete-able).

Tbh, given the gearbox issues with the MB, you've probably got a more reliable runner...

Hmm... well it's a toss-up.

On the one hand the Blackfoot body looks really good for a runner. My impulse would be to keep that body on it, but the Super Blackfoot stickers are godawful splotches so I'd source some decent original - aka 'Stompin Around' - Blackfoot decals and use those. Would turn out great!

On the other hand, that Blackfoot body is in good shape and you could probably sell it for about half whatever it is you paid for the truck. Probably enough to buy everything u need for your MB conversion. BTW if I were you I'd jump on this immediately: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171990012043 The early Blitzer Beetle bodies that were an exact match to MB shells are really hard to find, and everything else has extra holes all over the place (I hate that!).

Either way, you are hereby commanded by his eminent BEEFINESS to document your end results here for our enjoyment.

All back together, noise seems to be the old silver can motor, maybe it sat for a while, think I'll throw a sport tuned or I've just found a RS540SH motor from a previous build. Opened the gearbox, full bearings, yay, stuck some bearings I had in the drawer in the front wheel glued up the rear tires and touché. Old traxxas receiver and away we go.

I was going to put some Traxxas shocks on but these original shocks are fair.
