Okay, here's a original Sand Scorcher body. Apparently, the previous owner found it amusing to install some lights to it. Yeah, there's nothing sacred anymore. Well, I have this thing laying here, and I have no idea what it is, or how it works. Is it some sort of led lights module? And I also have no clue about brand, or costs. I would like to remove it and let it go so I can shave a bit what I spent on this stuff.

If anybody could educate me a bit about this thing that would be good.

Here's a couple of photos:

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi there. The 2 ports on the module should have a wire which plugs into your receiver, this supplies the power, some use another battery instead of the pack which your rc uses to run. This version may allow you control the lighting from a free channel/channels on you receiver. Also these light modules can have a button which when pressed makes the lights function differently. Such as always on and different flashing modes.

Cost wise I got a light module very similar to this from ebay for about £7 so they aren't really worth much either. Think tamiya ones are more expensive but I can't see any brand marks on it. I got one of these modules for my scaler build. I'll put a youtube up to show what it does when I find it. Hth

No problem :) . Glad you know what it is now. If you don't get a trade with someone may be just tuck it away somewhere. You never know it may come in useful for a future project.

Get some warmwhite LED for the front, redo the cabeling and it will look just fine.

It works best with the unit up front

Ahh, dunno. When I became interested in RC and Tamiya products there wasn't any light systems for RC cars, except the Tamiya bulbs (remember them?). They were super expensive and never seen anybody using them. So it's still a strange thing for me -something I do not understand. I'm too old for that. You see I don't use cellphone, microwave oven or mountain bikes. I still use Futaba 2-stick radios, ride a 1984 BMX, play a 1977 guitar, and listen to the Bee Gees and KISS. No kidding! :lol:

I use that exact same kit in my Bruiser, great value etc. I can copy the instructions for you if that helps. I have 3 of these all from different brands but I believe they are all just re brands from the same factory. Hobbyking, GT and no solder something? are the three makes I have, but all the same kit with different packaging/instructions. They cost under £10 here and they are compatible with Tamiya LED strings. It should also come with 2nr futaba type y leads (which I can't see in the pic) to piggyback the steering and esc signals from the receiver.

I put these images in my Mountain Rider thread;

Ignore the handwritten references, they refer to the Futaba radio control
