Finally finished assembling my farm king after a year.

Now I need to decide on a paint color and wanted input from all the color experts here after reading the hornet paint thread.

I am considering the following colors.

John Deer green, almost the box art color.

Ford tractor blue

Catapillar yellow

Farmall tractor red

Need all the color experts to give their opinion!

Thanks

I'm not a color expert myself, but I do love tractors. ;)

You're right on all of the colors. I think you're missing the legendary Allis-Chalmers, that come in orange color, and the Olivers, that are green with white details (the Oliver green is darker than the one used by John Deere).

Perhaps you can try the colors in your computer to find a good one. You can't expect people to point out what's the "best color" for your tractor, you just have to find one that you like and paint it that way. You have many options. Blue, orange, red, white (IH farmalls), black & white (IH Int'l), yellow, orange, and light and dark green. And if you look at the customized tractor pullers used in county fairs in the States, there's even pink ones!

I hope you share some pictures of your tractor when ready. :)

I went for JCB yellow on mine, and had some JCB Fastrac decals made for it.

Had I not gone that route, I would probably have gone for red with Case decals.

Anything but John Deere green.

I have to say that, because my great-grandfather worked for Oliver (dark green) and Massey-Harris (red with yellow trim) and my dad worked for Cat (yellow and black) and Claas (pale green and white with red logos). So Those Green Things With Yellow Wheels were always the competition...

I decided to do the farm king in kind of a cat yellow, but darken it with a drop or two of orange. My goal is a "safety" yellow, like the color of caution signs. I'll save the red for a tumbling bull. Need it to warm up a little before I fire up the airbrush.

Building it got me in the mood to build. I assembled my special Type 2 VW van last night. It will be painted yellow and white, love that color combo. Does anyone have tips on painting and decal application? I have pretty big hands and have a hard time getting in the body.

I'll save the red for a tumbling bull.

The Tumblin' Bull is loosely based on some old Porsche diesel tractor, and red is correct for the model.

Here's some photos for reference:

Now, if you're not that much interested in accuracy, I've seen some Tumblin' Bulls painted as John Deere tractors, too.

I hope you will share some pictures of your tractors with us in here some time. ;)

As soon as I get it done I will.

I think I have a problem when it comes to the Wheely kits. I have a new heavy dump truck waiting.

There is no such thing as a "problem" with wheelie kits. The only limitation is how much space you have to keep them all in. ;)
