Starting at ~14:30...

You ask about it later at ~15:21, but it looks like the Hex Drive Shaft you are using is a CRP #1605???  http://www.rcchopshop.com/crp/1605.html

Its a fiber-filled plastic...

How interesting. Were they good? Mine appeared to be twisted. Well, that one wont be compatible, lol. It offended me.

"Good"???  I can't tell you...  I've never owned a set...

The hexes on my OG Frog were fine when I drove with them as a kid...  They never broke or wore themselves round...

When I upgraded my OG Frog recently, I went straight to Yoke Drives (first w/ robinson, then with thorp)...

See I agree with you. I never, ever had an issue with the hex drives. Tamiya should have made telescoping drive shafts, the actual solution. Well that and a ball diff but I have not given up on that. I'm tired of band aids.

Meh...  I don't mind the band-aids...  I think they are fun...  If I wanted a car that didn't need them, I'd buy a modern one...

No i hear you but when you implement a "Fix" that is not a fix, that's when I get annoyed.

Any idea of the price of these items yet pinto?

I just placed the order on shape ways and as I worried, it is not cheap. Depending on final touch ups, somewhere in the $90 range. The issue is cost vs durability. This is a major structural component so I needed it strong. The issue is then how strong? The stronger it is, the bigger it gets, the more expensive it is. On the other hand, a thin part is cheap but will break. I chose to make the parts as thick as I could without being insane and making them cost as much as the kit. I had them in the $60 range for all the parts but my structural analysis was scaring me. I decided a to bump the areas I was unhappy with and sadly, the price rose. At least no one will complain about breaks. Sorry man I wish I had better news. It's all a balancing act but man this has some huge parts.

Good news is, it is compatible with the Monster Beetle now as well. I made a rear bumper that will accept the rear decorative plate on the beetle.

It also has diff braces built in so it will remedy the diff on top of everything else.

These should prove more forgiving than the originals. As soon as my new rear end is installed I will be taking this out to the track and finally getting the ORV I always wanted.

What about the anti-squat on this suspensions?

What about the rear toe-in?

Max

The rear end has 50% anti squat, about 2 degrees or so. It currently has no toe but I have 1 and 3 degree hubs I want to try out. I just built it and will be taking it to the track for a massive thrash test.

It's done. I cannot wait to take this to the track. This should fit all ORV cars without a single irreversible mod to the chassis or any related part. I need to confirm that the Frog shell fits but mine is at MIP. Will find out soon! This is compatible with the new CVA, dog bone and hex drives. It also incorporates a diff retainer to prevent diff separation under load.

I don't know why Mr. Tamiya doesn't like the anti squat. I have a list of models without it:

Astute

King Cab

Top Force

Dark Impact

Blitzer Beetle

Hot Shot

Boomerang...

Almost all Tamiya have not the Anti Squat.

PS: I contacted you on FB.

That chassis is looking nice in red, black and yellow, just like a Lego M:Tron Spaceship. :)

Yes! I think it needs some green now....

Looking forward to getting some of these upgrades for my Monster Beetle Re re.  I haven't even started on it yet, because of other kits, but when I do.... I'd like to make sure it's bulletproof before I run it after reading all the issues from the Monster Beetle re re thread.

Well thank you. Yes, I know when I tried mine with the new CVA's that Tamiya installed to fix the hex's, I was appalled to see how quick they were to pop out. Ill post the running video as soon as I have my Mud Blaster back together.

Once you have these parts out.... If they work great on the Monster Beetle... I may have to go ahead and get a Blackfoot 2016 Re re.

Well they should work perfect! I just installed all the electronics on my Mud blaster. I took it out a 11 pm on a dark street with a flashlight on the roof. After 10 seconds I realized that this was the best ORV I have ever driven! It turns great, it lands a jump awesome and it has never felt more stable. I could not belive it. I will get this to the track as soon as possible to demonstrate how strong the plastic is and compare the performance with my MB. I know this is not in any way a performance model, believe me, I used to race this with the flegling RC10T's when they were new. However, this truck does NOT want to roll over anymore. On top of that, the rear drive shaft will not pop out ever, ever again. EVER.

SOLD, now that it WON'T loose dogbones and it is harder to roll over, I am sorting out my order.

Not for sale until i beat it to within an inch of its life. I will prove to everyone how strong the SLS Nylon is. I love the stuff!
