I got a Tmaxx as part of a trade and have decided try to convert it to electric power. Also included in the trade were a motor mount and conversion parts to make the tranny compatible with electric power. I have two questions. What would be a suitable brushless combo? I'm looking at the Castle Sidewinder 3800 KV setup. Would that be enough to push this big truck around? Secondly, the slipper/spur gear I have is 48 pitch. That seems a little weak to me considering the size of the truck. Is there a 32 pitch spur that fits in its place? I think the Tmaxx I have is a newer long wheelbase 2.5 model. Any insight would be great.

you can use a revo spec spur which is 32p but you need to check what tranny it has if its the newer grey one you are good but the older black trans wont be able to use the revo spur/ slipper clutch setup.

as for the motor , i would look at a 1/8 system as the smaller 1/10 may struggle with heat , if its a swb 2.5 maxx it should ok but i wouldnt recommend it.

obviously a castle monster system is the best choice but i would also look at a hobbywing setup which are cheaper

From memory, I think you need to make sure the transmission is the single speed version, with out reverse.

with the electric motor you don't want the clutch as you will not have reverse or brakes. ( the electric motor acts as the brake)

As chickenman242tk has said above, look at the 1/8 systems as the Maxx is a big truck, you would probably burn out a 1/10 motor system

you could consider using 2 x 550 motors, like in the brushed version of e-maxx, if you have a double motor mount for the later grey tranny

The easiest way to convert from t-maxx to e-maxx is

buy the e-maxx chassis and e-maxx transmission, also the 2 prop shafts, as I'm think they are a different length on e-maxx.

front and rear suspension assemblies will just bolt on

if you got the single speed conversion kit for the black tranny you should be fine just dont get too powerful a motor as it will snap the driveshafts in no time.

if the truck is a swb 2.5 chassised truck you could get away with a 1/10 bl system ,its been done plenty of times before , just keep an eye on motor temps and it will be fine.

if you were to go with a new chassis and all the other e maxx gear you may as well scrap the t and buy a roller which would probs cost the same all said and done
