Apart from the obvious different hubs & extremeties parts... are the axle cases and innards the same (ie Interchangeable) for both early & later trucks?

They look pretty identical.

The front is the same, but the rear is different:

hilux/blazer has axale collars for flanged ballbearing

bruiser/mounty has axale collars for normal 850 bearings

So the difference is only inside, but if you are a purist...

Good point Roby.

Was just studying the manual for Hilux & Blazer and I noticed the flanged bush, was wondering if I needed a flange bearing or if I could get away with a unflanged one.

Did Tamiya ever sell flanged bearings? [?]

The rear axle is different also. the Hilux uses an E clip to secure the rear hub while the Bruiser uses a 3mm bolt.

I never noticted those differences before..? But now that I think of them, it makes sense... Jim, I think you mean a 3mm NUT though, not a bolt... [:)]
