Today my wife was building the GF01 chassis, and the steering pin is too long by about 2mm meaning I can't get the retaining screw in.

Thanks to Chris below, it's not Tamiya's fault, but the Wife's fault for once for inserting it in the wheelie bar instead... wohoo! Everything is now where it should be and I'm refraining from making any further comments because as we all know they have the memory of an elephant!

Gotta go...Happy New Year!!

Wrong part.

It's 2mm extra long because it's actually the support axle for the wheelie bar wheel (MC11).

Tamiya have tried to avoid confusion here by supplying one part in silver and the other in black. In your manual, the black one is shaded-in, the silver one is not.

Quick, there's probably still time to delete this thread and give your Mrs a stern talking to before anyone else notices! Haha

Rant edited lol, will save the packaging rant for another day ;)

Disaster averted, all sorted now, GF01 ready to rock for 2016, let's hope for a good year!

Cheers chaps

Yeah gotta watch those coloured in hardware in the manuals, there is the odd countersunk screw on the trailer I am building where some are silver and some are the gunmetal/bronze, makes for little fun when you are getting tired and searching for a bronze one because all the rest are in that step and it's actually a silver one you need a mill or two shorter/longer

My Scania kit, all but two of the black parts tree's came with a weird gray haze and a mosaicy pattern. We think it is either the release agent for the mould, a dirty mould, or maybe a post cleaning solution or pulling the tree too early, not entirely sure.

I would have returned the kit but took a chance as I was painting most of the chassis and it played out in my (and Tamiyas after umpteen cans!) favour as the isopropyl alcohol, primer and paint covered it all B)

Ugh, we all do it. No harm no foul.

There is a support post that was supposed to, but didn't, put in the chassis of my Monster Beetle.

I checked the manual many times but didn't see the step for putting it in.

...........Until just the other day.

Yeah I have a Clod red F parts tree like that. Two of the tie rod ends are similar, it is like they didn't quite inject enough hot plastic in the mould :)

I had a shrunken Bruiser decal sheet but after various emails they did end up replacing it.

It's worth dropping an email to your dealer with pics and letting them take it up with Japan. They ought to replace the part and it may help them with quality control in case there be a trend with certain parts or a bad batch.

but it transpires the front mount points on the GF are totally different to the WR02 Wheeler mount and would take a bit of messing to get it to fit, and then the body would sit too high, so instead it will have the shell it came with, the swb Land Cruiser. I'm not sure what wheels yet or colour for the body, I have tumbling bull wheels and tyres on at the moment.
