So I'm finally building my Clod project that's been sitting on the bedroom floor for way too long, and I was thinking about the useless blue plastic pieces that it seems like nobody likes. Why not black? If it's selling with the Lunchbox and Pumpkin, why not the Clod?

Who else would like that?

I suppose you could always source the black sprues from the Super Clod Buster Metal Plated Special kit to replace the blue sprues...

Personally I don't mind the blue at all. Real-world monster trucks have fairly wild designs with lots of colors and graphics, so the blue parts in the standard Super Clod Buster kit work for me.

I'd rather see them do a few mechanical tweeks, such as using TXT-1 stub axles, wheels and wheel hubs, which makes the stance slightly wider and the truck more stable, plus modified axle guards to fit servos in so that dual servo steering can be achieved 'out of the box'.

Having said that the matt black does look good. I'm a convert to this now after having started the war rig build, very easy to make something look good with a can of Halfords matt black :)

Not a fan of wider axles (scale) but YES, a can of matt black paint definitely does magic, mate! ;)

I am with you on that. The blue suits the colour scheme the truck is intended to have, it has never bothered me on the SCB. Now if you were to change the colour or decals then the bright blue could be a problem.

No more re re Clods please Tamiya just keep producing the Super Clod Buster. Please develop entirely new Clod kit the market is there just look at Pro line they have just released their own version of Clod tires and very shortly releasing their own Clod wheels.

And many more new products to come. New design please.

I'm very anti box art. Never have, never will do a box art rc. My problem isn't that the blue parts (or the original red parts) are bad, they're very limiting in what colors you can do the truck in.

Wouldn't even have to be a new kit. Just different color parts like the different color stuff for the Lunchbox.

I couldn't get behind a "new" Clod. The current and vintage parts market for the truck is too massive to do a redesign.

In my opinion, black f parts instead of blue is all that is needed. You can simply spray the body black.

Heck you can spray the blue f parts black and its all good. Automotive body paint or plasti-kote is great for that and hard wearing enough.

I wouldn't go out the way to buy a black version unless it was black metallic. They are more likely to re-release the original.

It's not a cheap kit unlike the lunchbox or pumpkin where they are priced at disposable income levels so different color kits will sell out.

It took years to sell out the metallic special clod.

I think General Motors should provide the funds to Tamiya for a 'licensed' re release of the original kit in as many variations to celebrate its 30th anniversary of the ClodBuster in 2017 . GM can pay for KC license also. Long live the Clod.

What they should do is make a Clod, but instead of a Chevy body use a body of the cab of a tractor trailer.

That's a great idea, and I feel some racing flames would make it look pretty sharp as well. Just a thought

Yes! And metallic blue boxart body colour! And chrome rollbar, stacks, fueltanks and airfilter housings and include a US flag. What a great dream! Tamiya will never do that. :(

^^ But what's stopping some one to build it , everything part is available to build one , may not be cheap .

Would look great , won't want to use it . As it may brake ? .

What about MFU added as well , why not go all in & re mortgage the house to pay for it :D.

But WOW , would look Fantastic .

Something tells me you're after the looks of this type of Clod Buster ;)

Better with original white wheels but what the heck... it still is a juicy thing!

You all have a good Friday! :)

Bug catcher butterfly sticker, finish the roll bar risers and I would use the black link bars... but I wouldn't kick it out of bed, simple but very nice, one of the top three box art deviations I have seen :)

The color editions are fun on the cheaper models. I have a few lunchy colors as well as a candy green grasshopper and happened across the body, wheels and decals for a black edition. Unless there is a unique decal pack or hopefully a re re or even re-hashing of og clod decals I too am unimpressed.

this is just another money grab and pure laziness.

Yep. I completely agree.

I'm waiting for the Jackson Pollock edition myself.
