Bargain for a brilliant controller, I use a DX6i myself for racing my DB01R and its flawless. Even the tension on the sticks can be adjusted as well as adding a ratchet type feel if needed too

Very tempted but the receivers look very expensive. Is there a "cheap" option?

I use hobbyking orange receivers in my other vehicles and only use the official spektrum on in my race buggy. The HK orange ones are around £8 each iirc, or at least they were last year.
