The longer wheelbase, the more tension. The shorter wheelbase, the less tension.

It's unlikely that your ball bearings or gears going wrong.

If it wasn't belt tension, I can't figure out why.

Very true, the manual really only allows you to assemble the gearboxes one way. If something is wrong/missing, you should realize that something isn’t right pretty quickly. Of course, in the case of my mistake (forgetting to put grease under a washer) you won’t realize it until 5 steps later or go to run...

The belt definitely isn’t overly tight or loose. I’m thinking that it may just need to be ran it in a bit.

I wish I could chime in with some help, but my re-re Optima is still in its box in the boot of my car as I haven't broken the good news to my wife yet, so can't have it seen in the house yet  I think I many need to work on this! :)

Well, I've been checking the modelsport website and until yesterday the stock date was still the 20th, ie today. I've just checked this morning and it now says 'on order with supplier - expected delivery date to be confirmed'! I'm just waiting to see if I get an email from modelsport, they processed the payment quick enough when I placed the order in February.

Moffman, looks like we could be seeing the Blackfoot re-re in the shops before these turn up!!! :(

I will be amazed if it turns up today! But we can live in hope!, I've kinda lost interest in it now because I've been looking at other ones that have been put on the forum and normally the buzz of seeing other then yours turns up is to me all part of the fun! I've never had a kyosho before and if this is it I'm thinking I'll just stick to the tamiya's, maybe I may change my mind If and WHEN it turns up!

For those of you in the UK: I got an e-mail from Modelsport at 18:05 today saying:

You are receiving this automated email as you requested to be notified when we received stock of the KYO-30617 Kyosho Optima 1:10 4WD Kit.

Although we do not have stock of the item, our supplier advises us that it is now available for us to order for you.

Their website now says "Stock Due 22nd Apr"... Good luck to those we are not already on the pre-order list!

Thanks for your comments, guys.

But the point should be the RAYS logo because there is no that piece of decal in a standard kit.

Here’s mine =)

Paint job definitely is far from perfect and pin striping was difficult around the windows but this is going to be a light runner.

One thing that worries me about running it at this point is that Kyosho doesn’t seem to have any replacement parts listed. I’m afraid I’m going to break something and have it sit on the shelf forever =(

Painting the sidewall lettering does wonders for the look of the all new tyres. Good job. :)

My paint job is not good enough.

However, the RAYS logo looks great.

I love it.

You obviously have seriously high standards as it looks perfect to me. Is that micron line tape you have used for the black lining of each section?
