Hi All,

Getting ready to build a FAV kit and dang these shocks are hard to find!

Looking to buy for a set, or any suggestions as to alternatives.

Shipping would be to NJ, USA.

Thanks all,

Mike

I reckon you want item number 84258, the optional shocks for the (re-re) FAV and black anodized version of the re-re Wild One Shocks. Indeed, 84258 is difficult to find, but the identical parts for the Wild One shocks are available and Seidel Modellbau and tamico.de have the right black anodized shock bodies and spring retainers from 84258 in stock!

I can't paste direct links to the parts here as the IE of my office laptop is incompatible with the forum, but if you go to www.modellbau-seidel.de or www.tamico.de and enter "84258", the shock bodies, spring retainers and several other parts from 84258 will come up.

If you have problems buying from these German sources, I'm located in Germany and would be happy to help you.

5193 are (rear) shocks for the original release Frog and thus suitable for the (original) Brat and Lancia too and was listed as an option for the original Grasshopper. The original release Wild One basically had the same dampers in the rear (and Hornet dampers up front), but without the "cooling" ribs.

Due to the design with the O-rings factory-crimped into the shock bodies, the O-rings "grip" the piston rods too tightly, and obstruct the movement, causing more "damping" than the oil did and much too slow rebound. Back in the days, for organized racing with the Frog, we used to fill these shocks with white spirit instead of oil as it reduced the problem somewhat.

Anyway a rather poor design and the dampers that come with the re-re Frog/Brat, re-re Wild One and 84258 are so much better.

Shows out of stock to me, but maybe that's exactly because the OP or somebody else followed your tip! :)

Oh strange! It says 4 available but when u add to cart it says out of stock. I'd email Jason and ask. Although it does look like Tamico and Modellbau-Seidel do have the parts available if not the whole packaged set. These look like nice shocks!
