I'm looking for recommendations for shelves to display my cars please. I don't want to spend a lot as not going to be in a posh room in the house. Could be floor standing or wall mounted. Last resort will be buying brackets and sheet and making myself, but would rather not if I can help it!

Thanks

Take a look at the IKEA IVAR range :)

Yeah, the IVAR stuff is good, although I found that it collects dust quite easily and can get quite grubby looking after a while as it has a rather rough texture.

I use the HEJNE stuff... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S09031417/ ...as it comes in small sizes, so it's handy for use in rooms where space is limited. On the downside, the shelves are slatted but this doesn't really present a problem for displaying large RC models. In fact it is perfectly fine for displaying diecast stuff too. The finish on the HEJNE shelving is nicer than the IVAR stuff IMO as it has a smoother finish to it. It's a nice, modern and simple method of displaying stuff...and it's cheap as chips too. It can also take a lot of weight as I have a flatscreen TV and various games consoles etc on it too.

I went to my local saw mills and brought black ash sheets to the size of the alcove where they was going and got the saw mill to cut them to size for 20p per cut. Also brought some strips of wood for the brackets got them cut to size also that way it fitted in my car easier. Then painted the brackets black to match made 4 shelf's in total for if I remember less than £40.

I will need to go again soon for more as I will have the bruiser and 2 more trucks to go on display.

Black ash? Was this a recent project or something you did in the 80s? :P Choice of materials aside, this isn't a bad call. I've taken a similar approach for other projects by getting the man in B&Q to cut stuff, being sure to highlight how important accuracy is!

I bought three sets of shelving from Bigdug.co.uk. It was on special - 3 for £100 or there abouts. The shelves are approx 45cm front to back so I can place the cars side by side.

I just got one of these for $90 US at ikea. Goes together very nicely and not quite as cheap in look/feel as you'd expect. The wife was impressed. That has to count for something.

Fit my 1/10's perfectly, I will need to get a decent picture of it in the day time. The one I took earlier this week won't be doing anyone any favors.
