Just stumbled across this, didn't know anything about it so nice to find! http://www.motormag.com.au/news/1606/real-car-or-rc-car/

Been slow progress recently with a lot of 1:1 car stuff going on instead. Got a few getting close to being done though.

Isn't that how it always goes?  I too am a graphic designer professionally... but I've been progressing in my pilot certifications instead of having free time to do RC

This is the time of year when my output goes up a notch. I've spent almost all my RC time recently spraying bodies and bits while the weather is good. Now it's getting a bit colder, and all the 1:1 cars shows are done I can start to work through my stash of painted stuff. I've got three Jägermeister liveried cars to do, so I'll alternate those between other colours to prevent my Instagram feed from orange overload!

First up this 2002 Impreza: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?id=43050&cid=129634&t=101201615007

Pretty happy with how this one came out. Tried a few new things - painting bits TS-29 on the outside (using PS flat clear as a base) and also thinner, black lines for the rear screen heater elements:

Unfortunately they don't seem to do the shell without post holes, but I don't think they detract from it too much. I love these MST wheels.

I reckon it looks better than the 2007 I did last year, both in terms of what I've done with it and the actual shape of the car itself:

Very nice!

where could I get some of those tyre decals in white? Or did you make them yourself?

Thanks! The tyre decals are home made with a vinyl cutter. You can buy something similar though if you have a hunt around.

Finished this Xsara WRC today. Showroom here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=130122&sid=43050

One thing I've been meaning to do for a while is include a transmitter in one of the pics. On services like Instagram where people are looking on a small screen it might not be obvious that it's an RC car not a 1/24 scale model. (Yes, I realise that sounds a bit immodest but I have had people comment that they thought it was a scale kit on first glance!)

Also, after looking at some of my earlier builds like the Integrale and Impreza 2007 I see a load of things I'd do differently now so I've ordered those bodies again while they are still available and reasonably priced. It'll be a while before I get around to them (maybe next year even) but it'll be interesting to see how then turn out with a few more years of practice / experience.

Looking through the last dozen models, it seems you are totally justified! Top work indeed.

All your stuff is utterly amazing.  It ought to inspire me to improve my own builds, but frankly it just makes me want to give up altogether. :(

Here's a good example of progress over the past couple of years. The Jager M3 is the 6th car I built, February 2016 and the Auto Tech is build number 27, April 2018. This is the longest gap between two versions of the same body.

Obviously some details like the fuel fillers don't exist on both cars, but you can play spot the difference with the others! The most noticeable being the rear lights. On the white Schnitzer M3 I masked them off then used the stickers so they can be updated, but on this orange car they're painted underneath. I may break out the paint remover at some point, or just sell this on and do it again.

Just read through the whole thread - wow!

You’ve got some beautiful bodies there and a good eye for detail. Are those air jacks in each corner on the yellow m3?

Also, how do you do the exhausts?

Time for an update on this. Firstly, I've started a second Instagram account with work-in-progress, photo setup and collection pics  - https://www.instagram.com/kuhfarben_werks/

Recent builds since my last post, each time I'm trying something new:

Pretty much sorted how to to the lights on these Evos now:

This one got an actual fabric window net and HPI wheels, which match the real car better than Tamiya's:

Styrene ducting behind the grille and custom RACC logos:

The impreza looks real! Outstanding work - what type of paint do you use for the matt black finish on the grill surrounds? Is it normal acrylic model paint?
