I have had a couple of Subaru Brats in the past but the roll bars I have seen have metal ends to attach them to the body. I was wondering what is this one from.

Is it from the 1989 Mud Blaster???

I'm intrigued this thing doesn't have metallic internals, I can't see how can it be used! Anybody seen this one before?

You all have a good Wednesday! :)

Just checked it again and it says "1989 Tamiya".

And quite frankly I see no possible way to bend it to install it on the Subaru bodyshell!

I got it last December in a big lot of Tamiya cars and parts. No idea!

Manufacturing error? Still on the sprue because it is unusable? Interesting.

It's intriguing indeed! I doubt the guys from RC4WD who seemingly are so fond of Tamiya parts trees would keep the word "Tamiya" in their copied trees.

I got it from a rich guy who I know would not buy anything on the cheap side, reproductions or the like. That only adds to the mystery.

Hopefully somebody here in TC might help with some info.

Does it say "L"???

If so, its the RollBar from the ReRe Brat. The OG Brat had almost the same but it had a metal insert and was labeled "G"...

Or at least that's what I gathered from comparing an ReRe Brat manual and an OG Brat manual...

Not sure how you twist it into shape without breaking it. I found a 2005 thread here where people talked about cutting it and gluing it back, or replacing it with an OG (with bendable metal insert): http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9493

With some thought, I *think* the way to twist it is to heat the plastic just to the melting point, give it a turn, and them let it cool... I remember having to do similar things with old static Tamiya models back in the day...

Oh, wow. I can't believe it! :o

Yes, the tree does say "L".

Makes me wonder, is there anything Tamiya is doing better when re-releasing their classic RC kits? :(

Err... my rere brat had the metal bar through it, I remember because I lost one of the 4mm nuts off the bottom of the bar and the plastic spacer and had to replace it with a frog chassis MSC spacer.

Really!? Oh wow. Gotta check some of the old rere Brat build threads here and see what's this about the rollbar.

To me it just looks like someone forgot to put the bar in the mould in the manufacturing process, and it got injected like that but frog jumpers question about the two different parts letters has me baffled, and intrigued!
