WTD Tamiya m-chassis B Parts - gear casing

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am rebuilding a M01 that I bought on eBay as a

"Bargain" but am slowly replacing everything on it including the chassis. :(

So now I need a Tamiya M-Chassis B Parts (Gear Case), Part No's. 50652 (SP-652 & 0005550 & 1000550)

Anyone got one for sale?

Thanks

Fingers crossed I will have one soon coming from OZ thanks to Alex. :)

I am not sure there is anything left apart from the screws that is original on my "bargain" Ebay buy now so hopefully it will last awhile before the kids break it.

That is the "breaks" with the original M1 chassis I am afraid. Hope your project came out okay.

I have managed to get 1x M02L and 2x M02M chassis but as yet no M01 chassis. I don't think there are any M01 chassis left out there and if there is one on a shelf somewhere the plastic will be pretty brittle by now. So I have built up one of the M02M chassis and am waiting for the gearbox casing to come from OZ.

I have started to paint up a nice Morris Minor van; will pop up some pics when finished. :)

Mini VAN, want to see that. In all honesty, you can transform the M-02M into a M-01, swapping the gearbox round is all it takes. If you are into a FULL Kit, well how about this little gem, have had my eye on it, but since it is re re on the M05 chassis and I don't really want to have the heartbreak of brittleness, well, I am tempted though.

Enjoy that.

What am I missing?? I better have another look at my parts cars and build manuals, I thought you just swapped around where the motor mounted and steering on the first M chassis.

I think that's the case too, matey..... but there never was an M01L... only an M02L. M01/02 and M01M/02M should be that way, but only the 02 came in a LWB model.

If you need any M-Chassis parts, drop me a PM with a list.

Cheers but I am going to go with the M02 now as I have 3x chassis.

The M02 middle tub is the same as the M01 but not the end parts. Here are a few pics of the old M01 and the new M02 Medium. Maybe there was a M02 (short) that may of been the same? The M02 medium is a fair bit longer than the M01.

Okay, now I get it, of course I don't want to be dense, but aside from the "engine" end, I thought you could simply plug the steering onto whatever end you wanted and make your own M01/M02. I realize that might sound simpler than it is, but it has been a few nights since I last built up an early M chassis and I have slept since then, so I could be absolutly wrong on what to do. I realize the M03 had a couple different lengths achieved by simply adding a bit of plastic nearly down the middle and then there were the folks that started making their own lengths to properly space the wheels in different bodies. It was my understanding that M01/02 were very nearly the same things with diffferent engine ends(FWD/RWD) then the M03 made a different jump with only FWD and a different design, the M04 seems a flash in the pan with only RWD and a totally different design again and then the current M05 with its multitude of changes in design and ability to get different lengths(absurd that Tamiya thougth a RWD car body should go on this chassis) then onto the M06 where it was RWD and yet shared some bits and bobs from the M05.

Seems to me that Tamiya has followed the lead of say BMW, where ODD number car chassis are FWD and EVEN number car chassis were RWD in the M department that is.

Okay, my head is hurting and my fingers are cramping from typing on this infernal electric typewriter thingy, so I shall go get me a nap. :D

Yes I think you can swap the ends and turn the front wheel drive chassis into rear wheel drive. Its just a shame they made so many different lengths.

It's only a shame they didn't make MORE bodies to go with those different lengths!!! nearly 20 years to put out a Honda CR-X body for an M chassis and no Ford Escorts, the list could be enormous of the cars that Tamiya could have brought out in a segment of RC that they nearly invented by themselves. Oh well, we can always dream they will re re the Blazing Blazer amongst other "hen's teeth" models that some folks go gaga over and others don't really dig them.

Here's the Morris Minor van shell I am using. Its a white ABS shell from Kamtec so you have to cut the windows out and paint the outside.

I painted it Triumph Wedgewood blue and trial fitted it to the M01 chassis. But it looked too shiny so I cut some plastic glued it in and added some rust. :)

LOL because its painted on the outside every time you bash it you need to touch up. Much easier to add more rust :)
