Looking good Percymon, colour really suits it and looks very different. The rear looks much better with the badge too, I was initially not going to bother with the Toyota rear badge or go with one of the jelly type more modern Toyota scripts painted but this has me reconsidering that, nice one!

Thanks for the comments and feedback throughout the thread.

im surprised how far on this project is, just approaching 6 weeks since it arrived. Those 6 weeks seem to have flown by in hindsight but during the body prep stages I felt like I wasn't getting much back for the time invested ;)  Good to look back at some of my images to realise it's been worth it :)

im not under estimating the hours still required, easy to think it's just a bit of window trim painting  but the reality will be a disproportionate amount of time for the relatively minor visual changes lol!

im determined to get this one done before drifting off onto another project so must keep the short term focus .

Yup, I've been a year and a half on the Bruiser build, when you increase the attention to detail it takes a lot longer than most would appreciate. The body has been together and apart so many times. There's the door handles, the window trims, the vents behind the door handles, the rails if you're going to do them (I've left them on my Bruiser/Rider) all the masking involved for each of those stages, the painting of the lenses on the rere's, decals, clear coats etc etc it just goes on and on. It's fun but also nice to get something finally finished!

My vintage rear bed is still soaking in the utility in the oven pride bag lol.

It's a satisfying build though and your truck is a far cry from what it was when you bought it. You've done well to get it all done in 6 weeks what with real life getting in the way! It's great to have it all documented like this and useful for everyone else embarking on a 3 speed project, it has certainly been useful to me and I've picked up a few tips.

What decals have you gone for? I went with some on ebay from dartford which weren't great quality, have now ordered some from Canada which I'm hoping will be better.

Cheers

Well real life has gotten in the way of late, hence 10-12 days with no updates.

Rear end is finished - new antenna holder and tube installed, new F103 body mount posts were a perfect size replacement for the missing body posts on the mechanism box.

body details such as rubber window trim, door handles and indicators now completed.

The best four of the original tyres have been coated with glycerin tonight, bagged and will stay that way for a minimum of 3 weeks (I'm not intending installing these for running so an extra few weeks stay under glycerin  won't harm ).

Purchased another set of decals, just generic items this time featuring some of the Hilux sponsor items; these look slightly better in clarity but time will tell whether they size up for this application.

I'll try to get some newer photos up in the next 48 hours.

Still waiting to give it a run and some more realistic photos, but for now it sits on the window sill !

Original tyres are still in the bag of glycerin, about 6 weeks now, probably not going to benefit from any further soaking.

It's taken an age, but eventually I have moved my photos across from photobucket to another host site - hopefully most of the photos are restored now and aligned to the text.

Im glad you did, I enjoyed reading this, not seen the build before.

I never had much interest in these but I was allowed a good poke around an immaculate new built never run one a month or so ago and it sparked my interest!

One day :)

Now that is nice. Very very very nice. I love a rejuvenation rather than over-restoration.
