Matt888 61 Posted April 2, 2016 What glue do you guys use to stick the accessories on your Tamiya? I've got a re re Sand Scorcher and I've glued the number plates and all the other stuff on with revell glue but everytime it goes out I somehow lose another piece. I've just ordered some new parts so now I need decent glue to keep them on.
LongRat 634 Posted April 2, 2016 Shoe Goo is a nice option. It's very sticky but because it is rubbery it handles rough treatment very well. Something like CA which is hard and brittle doesn't have the same amount of durability.
GregM 1109 Posted April 2, 2016 +1 for Shoegoo, which is a great glue for anything that needs to stay flexible. Also good for lexan and lifted decals. CA glue does a good job if you have a good contact patch, or else it will show its brittle nature when used on moving models. Plastic glue is great for welding polystyrene plastic in both static and moving models. But to make it stick the most, you need to have bare surfaces without paint.
Pauly22 11 Posted April 2, 2016 On the subject of glue. What best for tyres? Mine spin on the rim when accelerating. Cheers.
GregM 1109 Posted April 3, 2016 CA glue works best. I got excellent results with Tamiya tire glue. If you don't have the intention of ever separating worn tires from wheels. Don't forget to use foam inserts before glueing.
Tamiyabigstuff 851 Posted April 3, 2016 To fix tyres to rims I only ever use silicone sealant - holds the tyres in place and is easy to clean off when required. Small tubes are a couple of £'s from ebay - the sort of stuff for sealing car windscreens, etc...normally black or clear is what I use.
