Thanks for that Scoobybooster, I'll compare them with the UK ones when they arrive.

Took the rear cab out of the ovenpride bag yesterday and gave it a rinse, has come out as good as it's gonna get I suspect, which should be perfectly adequate for basecoating. I might need to infill a couple of deeper scratches here and there...

Yesterdays handiwork...

Cutting out a new rear bulkhead from Styrene sheet. I shall probably cut it in half and use the Bruiser clear rear window and then think up of a way to secure this all to the front cab, glue, mech fixing (rivet/thin bent ally plate and existing fixing in front cab) and miliput I think.

With the styrene glue its easy enough  to add the securing tangs on the inside at the bottom corners - they don't need to be as elaborate as Tamiyas slotted items, you could just use a rectangular section, and once aligned with the cab mark the holes needed for the side securing screws.  Alternatively the solvent glue will give a very strong bond so you could do without any securing screws.

When I stripped my body the rear wall was well adhered to the main cab, so left it alone, but i did smooth out the external joint lines on the rear outer face with filler - made it look a lot more integral rather than a seperate section..

Thanks for that pic, smoothing in is indeed the plan, looks much better for it, did you use miliput for that?

If the glue is strong enough I may go with just the tabs. I was thinking of cutting out a couple of rectangles and gluing them to the flat bulkhead 2 layers deep like a sandwich to bulk them up a bit then glueing around the joints too giving them a decent surface area to adhere to. Maybe do that a couple of times below the waistline vertically and miliput in between the tabs like a seam weld on the inside.

I need to order the shapeways side bed liners and rear badge too!

cheers

Nito

So cut the rear bulkhead down in the end with a view to using the Bruiser rear window...

Next step will be some tidying up then securing it all and smoothing in.
