TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 I've never really been a fan of buggies, i've mainly been into rally cars (my TB-01), monster trucks (my T-Maxx that i converted to brushless) and recently truggies (my hyper 10 TT) now i'd seen several build threads about the TT-02 and liked the look of it, and then i saw the Sandshaker and decided it looked cool as and i had to have one. But i never got the funds to get one. Then the novelty of a brushless T-Maxx had worn off, so i decided to sell it and a couple of other projects i had, thus clearing up some funds, so i went back looking at the sandshaker, but was advised that they tend to fall over. So whilst browsing eBay, i came across the Neo Scorcher, and there was just something about it that was cool. After a chat on another forum, i found they made a Metallic Pink one. OMG. PINK! i had to have one of them! so that was it, settled, the next task was finding one, back to eBay, to find most of the ones in the UK cost over £120 but the ones from overseas were cheaper, even with postage. Having seen the tasty hopups that other people had used for thier own TT-02 builds i looked at them all, and whilst i love Tamiya hopups i couldnt justify them at the time, but the company i wanted to buy the Neo from had thier own range of TT-02/B hop ups (Jazrider) They were much cheaper than the Tamiya ones, now i know the risk with dodgy chinese copies, but thought it was worth the risk. So Neo Scorcher and several hop ups were ordered on the 18/4/16.  The other main reason for chosing pink was my eldest daughter is a girlie girl who likes pink :-)  Right, here we go with the build.  Starting off with the unboxing of course.
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 The Jazrider hopups i ordered were   Alloy steering  Alloy prop shaft and drive cups  Bearing set.
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 This is the work station  I started off with the wheels so my small children had something to play with whilst i got on with the build.
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Next up came the build as per the instruction manual. I've not taken pictures of the manual as i went along, just the buggy. Â Â
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Next up was time to install the motor. Â Wow i had a complete nightmare trying to install this. At the time i didn't know it was a dual sided mount, i only ever dealt with fixed mounts so this was a new thing to me. I thought i had got the wrong mount as i wanted to install the 17t pinion as per the kit, but the mount was number 20-25t. So i left it and carried on with the rest of the kit. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Then after some help off XV Pilot, i got the mount all figured out and went back to install the motor. Â Â Â And back to the rest of the build. TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Now for those eagle eyed people, will see that i've fitted the longer bottom shock mounts, this is to give to a tiny bit more ground clearance as i've heard they (TT-02B's) dont do too well on grass which is a little long, and as my main running ground will be grass and gravel, every little helps. Â Â Â Â Â Â Installing the jazrider steering was fun, as unlike Tamiya hop ups, these ones dont come with any instructions of how to assemble, so with the help of the tamiya manual and my knowledge i got it figured out in the end. Â Next up was the electrics, as much as i love tamiya, gotta hate the tamiya plugs so it had to go on the ESC. Â Â Â I had a spare savox servo laying around so that made it in for the steering. OK, its ALOT overkill for a 1/10th buggy, but i'll never have any issues with the steering. Â Â Â Â Â
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Â Â Â I also had a spare cooling fan that i thought would work well above the motor. Â Â Â Â Â Â
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Next up was to install the suspension. Â Here is were i had a clever idea. Rather than using the screws provided to mount the shocks and have some play in them, i went with 5mm tamiya ball connectors, it removed ALL the play and IMO is just much better. How long they hold up is a different story as they are only a short thread and may get ripped out of the suspension arms, but i'll address that should it be an issue. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â DONE. Â Ready for decals.
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Or so i thought. Â As per usual i gave it a quick bench test on the table to find an awful lot of flex in the rear shock tower. to the point where the tower flexed so much that the spring and shock absorber didn't actually compress. That shock tower had to go. Â Back to ebay. Tamiya FRP shock tower ordered. Â Next day this arrived. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Now the wife has given permission to keep the Neo Scorcher in the living room on display, which was very nice of her. But this means i have no desire what so ever to trash the body or wheels on this Neo. I did buy it to run, not to shelf, so the only option i had to keep the wheels and body in pristine condition was to.... buy a 2nd body and a 2nd set of runner wheels so i can enjoy it outside and inside, its no major hassle to swap out wheels and a body for display use.    Back to eBay to order 2nd Neo Scorcher body Set of FTX Vantage wheels  and Neo Scorcher Decal set.  Fast forwards a couple of days and we have.....
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 8, 2016 Somewhere along the line i ordered this   It was pointed out to me that keeping the white shocks white may be an issue, so at some point ill be ordering some black ones or alloy ones for use outside.  I've also got the Tamiya Front FRP shock tower on order - to match the rear one, and im also waiting on a tamiya heat sink for the motor.  The cooling fan on the motor has been removed as it was inoperative and the standard motor cowl thingy has been fitted.  After a quick run around the garden, the torque tuned motor just isn't going to cut it.  I'll be sticking with NiHM batteries as i can't be donig with LiPo's in my Tamiya's. I dont want it stupidly fast, i just want something faster than the torque tuned motor.  Hopefully today i'll have a 2400KV team orion motor to go in it. I know the rear diffs don't like too much power, so i'll be swapping them both (F+R) out for DF-02 diffs when i can afford them, or maybe the GPM ones.  I never intended to spend the extra money on this buggy, but it was well worth it for a outside light basher and nice shelfer, and no doubt i'll be spending more on it because i like shiny things and GPM do a whole load of shiny stuffs
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 10, 2016 Got the 2400kv can. Bigger than the torqur tuned. Removed the rx box. Fitted the alloy motor mount. Fot the motor. Fit the rx box stood up on its side. Programmed the ESC to run brushless. Didnt know that the ESC wouldnt run a sensorless motor. Looks pretty. Wont move. New plan. Save up for a sensored brushless. Fit sport tuned motor out of shelf queen impreza.
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 10, 2016 The heat sink arrived from HongKong today, so that got fit along with the sport tuned motor.
Rb4276 803 Posted May 10, 2016 How is the quality of the Jazz rider aluminum? I was considering buying 3 things from them for my aqroshot. Otherwise I'm going to order from RPM again. Jazz rider is a few bucks each cheaper that's why I'm curious
TwistedxSlayer 1290 Posted May 11, 2016 As you'd expect, it's not Tamiya quality, it feels good, it looks good in real life, I've not had it long enough to say how long it will last though. At the moment I'd happily buy more Jazrider gear

About stuff not fitting properly, but almost all of it was for their crawler items thanks
Rb4276 803 Posted May 12, 2016 Well today I took my Aqroshot out and not even 10 mins in I did a flip in the grass and the Jazz rider drive cup bent like a piece of tin foil essentially.  So my fears were true as were the reviews. I now can't get the cup out of the rear hub so I just ordered a new Tamiya set and tossed it all in the garbage.  So beware and good luck.  I'm just happy I never ordered the other parts. That was also only the 2nd time driving with them.

I may be changing to Tamiya gear if they turn out to be toffee. I may change to tamiya anyway once ive sold my TB-01 just so its all Tamiya. The steering linkage and prop shaft shouldnt be under too much stress.

Also fitted a complete GPM rear diff as i couldnt find a set of DF02 diffs. Â And the biggest change... Â Tamiya Big Bore Alloy Shocks but not yet fitted.
