36141129-AB9D-4A41-B394-0935BB15CA83_zpsGot fed up of looking at my Stadium Blitzer DT-03 and in light of a couple of fantastic paint jobs on here I would be afraid to drive I thought I would just get it done.

I had no good front mounting option so I did the Tamiya Re-re trick and drilled two more holes.

I looked at the shell and to mask and paint it well would require so much effort I would not want to drive it.

I found and old tin of white and black and was going to do a fade paint job. Looks like there was more white in the tin than I thought.

Rear body mounts and stickers and it will be ready to roll.

I did not build this car so It is going to have to be stripped and rebuilt quite soon so I know it is done right

Off work with the norovirus so got some sticker time in.

not 100% box art as I wanted to cover the roof hole and not have the side number boards on. The bonnet stickers cover the original holes so I am well pleased.

My other DT has stadium wheels and tyres on so I might have to swap. I think this one will end up with CC-01 wheels and WT-01 tyres in the end though for grip and ground clearance

Looks great, nice that the decals covered those holes, do your front wheels clear the front bumper at full lock?

Now you just need to rip out that weedy esc and go for a top speed run ;)

Wheels clear bumper and arches.

Think I will try my cheap Chinese motor combo in it. Diff is open and it is on plastic drive shafts so not sure what 4370KV will do......

Just putting cricket bat repair tape all around the inside of the shell. Got the idea from someone on here and I think it will protect well.

Lol that cricket tape works great!

I just got a DT03 Neo fighter and after seeing this Stadium shell on it, as with Nitos touch shell think I will follow this route eventually... checking back later for body mount tips ;)

Hate this type of wing, I can never get enough paint in the gap on the edges.

Started cutting out my Unimog but put the scalpel through my thumb so will give that one a miss this week while scissors arrive

Ouch, I use a dremel now with cylindrical sand paper attachment which works a treat with polycarb and lets me get into tight nooks/angles which scissors wont.

Spare time so I thought I would start a build.

Lots of blue bits with the MS. I am sure I would have hopped it up in the end so saves time now. Build the diffs stock with a bit of putty in for now, will see how the survive before metal upgrades get ordered.

0.3mm shim in the front diff and 0.2mm in the rear

This was supposed to be a build stock and then upgrade affair but I had to add the motor mount.

Pinion is steel out of the box, finger is not.

First choich of motor but though it might be a bit much for the Tamiya ESC. Run one on my WR-01 with no issues but thought best to try something else. Have a 1060 in stock so though I would try this cheepy.

Instructions did not line the pinion up very well so I changed it

Found a nice and expensive servo in my box, must have been purchased for another stalled project....

Done for today. Shock to be built and steering to be added. White shocks going on sons DT-03 and black on here.

I might have had a small slip and ordered a steering kit and universals so will wait for them to arrive before I carry on further

DA1E43EA-3C20-47C6-A3B7-38F653ECEB9F_zps

The kit came with black 5mm balls but I had blue ones in the box so I though I would use them here and not chav up another build

Nice build :) I'm not a fan of to much anodizing but usually it's because the chassis plate is alloy and anodized too  I think this is a nice mix ^_^

Oh and I had to google that word  Over here we have a couple of different words ;)

Nothing wrong with chavving up a build sonny Jim! I do it all the time.

Is that an aftermarket battery lid cover.. looks sleek either way.

Battery lid is the Tamiya FRP one.

I love hop ups but prefer them to look subtle, I have to say I do like the blue this time though.

Some parts turned up so I did a bit more

For some reason I only ordered one set, I am sure I had two in my basket

YR steering set up. This is going to need some shimming to make it tight, I am not impressed out of the packet

Ouch that TT02 looks pretty aggressive... hardly a family friendly cutesy RC like Tamiya intended ;) I like it.

Back to your DT03... I was confused how you mounted the Blitzer shell... you've used some other rear posts and fitted them on top of your aluminium wing mount?

I only ask as I was toying with a van type Bodyshell on the DT03 and was looking for some way to get tall rear post mounts.

Just checked your front mounts too.. are they mounted normally ( on the side of the chassis) or have you modded them to fit on top of the shock tower? Picture is hard to tell, again I'm curious for a taller front body post.

Edit: Your front body posts look like  they are the DT-03t angled posts?

your TT02 looks the dogs er bits!

Hoping to get one in S.Africa next week, a bit of a step up from my Grasshoppers, Hornet and Mad Bull out there!

Beer, Braai, and Buggies..now thats what I call a holiday!!

Not sure the wheel are staying yet, I just needs a set of 4 hexes to sit it on. I do like the look though and the ground clearance is much better. It is not much of a buggy is stock form, very low.

@Jason1145 I am not sure what the front posts were off, I put all my old ones in a "posts" bag and dip in as I need. The rear is a random alloy mount mounted horizontal off the shock tower. I had to drill new front holes and if I did it again I think I would just use straight posts and drill the shell at the back as well.

I actually need to make sections for my parts like that as I can never find things like servo mounts and servo splines not to mention hexs.

No worries Nobbi I will source something up for some tall rear mounts as I just found something of use in one of my old Traxxas boxes.

Reminder for Nobbi - buy screw for WT01 front mount.

If you get stuck let me know, I might have another of the Chineseium mounts I used. The posts in that were left over from the never finished CC-01, they are the screw in the bottom type

So PB have ruined this thread but I am going to keep going.

The boy got a kit for Christmas and I painted the body ages ago but today with the weather stopping any sort of play we sat down to start.

I told him it was the law that you had to sit the body and wheels on when you finish no matter how much is left to do

Bit of a catch up.

Took the boys to Mablethorpe for a play on the sand. The sensor motor did not like getting wet so will need better motors for the next beach run

Took the DT-03 Blitzer to Nene Park near Peterborough. It is a great space but a little flat and boring.

Tyres look good but are not very grippy. Might look at that in time
