So a little heretical I know, but I really like the look of the TXT-2 over the TXT-1 (yes, including the tires/wheels).

The one bit of the TXT-2 which looks like a bit of a downgrade is the chassis: it's got a bunch of plastic and some heavy metal plates (compared to the gorgeously machined aluminium chassis on the TXT-1).

Is there some advantage to the TXT-2 chassis I'm missing?

Does anyone know if you can drop a TXT-1 chassis in to the TXT-2? Are they the same size? Does it have all the mount points you need (e.g. for the new suspension geometry, link placement, and electronics deck)?

Thanks!

As far as I know, the two chassis interchange. The TXT-1 chassis gives the option of cantilever or vertical shocks while the TXT-2 only handles vertical shocks, I believe. The two main tubes of the TXT-2 chassis are actually metal. The main benefit of the TXT-2 chassis is scale realism, right down to those plates with the sponsor on them. The TXT-2 chassis is actually heavier but can be lightened if you replace those heavy plates with something a bit lighter. I don't recommend eliminating them all together as they provide support for the suspension link mounting points.

Thanks Saito - that's my guess just looking at the pictures too. I think the vertical shock mount is just a different plastic part attaching to the same mount points on the chassis - would be great if someone who has both built could confirm.

Re: the chassis mod, I'm glad you mentioned the need to keep the chassis plates as I was wondering if I could just ditch them outright. I've seen a bunch of folk replacing it with custom cut thick lexan ... but man that looks like a lot of work (hence my lazy option of swapping out for the alu frame off the original).

I made lexan side plates for mine. Just a piece of A4 lexan off eBay, then trace the metal ones and cut out with a jigsaw. Doesn't need to be that neat a cut as the edges are concealed by the chassis. Use the original plate again as a template to drill the holes.

Good grief you forget how large these trucks are until you see a photo like that last one!

Nice job on the lexan replacement - if my alu frame plan doesn't pan out, I'll have to give this a go.

This puts it into perspective too:

I've just bought a new Agrios shell for an alternative paint scheme and this time I'm going to cut the arches higher (Bigfoot 18 style).

The Agrios shell is truly huge, dwarfing even the TXT-1 shell. I have both trucks but my TXT-1 is retired for the moment. The brushless system in my TXT-2 makes for a fun truck though. The weight and size of the truck barreling along is impressive.
