Last night I trimmed and mounted the body.  The rear mounts take time to get drilled correctly.  It's fits as best as it can on a chassis that's 7mm too long

Actually it looks ok, but I still can't understand why T have chosen this shell for this chassis, and made a limited 911 GT2 too. I'd be glad to see 911 GT2 on TA-02SW with all these hop-ups.

Shodog where did you get those wheels from?

eBay.  My first  set for my RSR came from Germany and were kind of pricey.  The second set I found from eBay China and got them dirt cheap.

This may be the case with my second kit. I have a nub Taisan shell that would be perfect for this chassis

Tonight I got off too late from work to make it to the hobby shop for some paint. However when I got home the silver TA-02 gear cases arrived from the UK in the mail. Tamiy should have included these silver gearcases in the kit

The silver gearboxes is a nice touch, but I think Tamiya should have included orange gearboxes and uprights (A-, B- and C-parts) to make the kit a bit more unique. After all, Tamiya managed to include the speciality of blue gearboxes and uprights in the TA02T.

nice idea with the silver parts and the 53155 shocks. looks a lot better

I agree. The chassis has too much black plastic. The sliver cases break it up.

Just ordered mine from Tower as it showed in stock. Thanks to my earlier Arrma Nero purchase and Gold member status, got it shipped for $132.88. The question is, do I still have Stella send me the one I preordered with them? This is the first time Tower has receive stock faster than Stella that I can remember.

I see Stella have ramped their price up to $300us. Don't think they will sell many at that price, well not until supplies eventually run out. I will buy elsewhere this time.

The price is lower. They set pricing like that until all the pre orders are set, then they sell to the general population. It'll be 200 if I'm not mistaken.

I think I'm going to try and stretch an M06 chassis from 225 to 230. rather not modify this kit.

M06 goes to 240mm at max extension; add TL01 arms and it fits Taisan shell very nicely

I finally pulled the trigger on one of these yesterday after a lot of deliberation. There can be no doubt that this kit is pretty underwhelming for a 40th Anniversary celebration though. I have bought some of the classic red gearbox cases to make it a bit more exciting.

As mentioned above though, Tamiya should have released it with it's own unique orange gearbox cases.

I got mine from Siedel, minus the electrics, to keep the price at the £150 mark. I don't see these kits being hard to get hold of any time soon, if ever. Compared to the excellent value 84399 GT2 I think this one is pricey.

The GT2 is far better looking too.

It's worth it for the frp chassis and other hop ups.

I can make a batch of carbon lower and upper decks (6mm shorter) if people want them?

They will be essentially the same, so all the other parts will fit. Although you will need to mod a prop shaft

I'm actually glad that they included black gearbox cases in this kit. The red ones are readily available, while the blue and silver ones can be obtained from the TA02T and GT2 kits respectively. In terms of value, there is an $80 price difference between the 993 GT2 and 934 at Tower Hobbies. That $80 gets you the FRP chassis set, FRP damper stays, aluminum motor mount, universal drive shafts, hard propeller shaft and bearings. Buying the front and rear universal driveshafts separately will set you back $40 already. One might argue that the GT2 comes with an ESC, but the 934 comes with the LED light unit so they are pretty much even when it comes to electronics :)

Can't wait to build mine. It'll look great next to my hopped up TA02SW :)

I would be interested in this. Good idea! Prop shaft can be made from some 5mm carbon rod. I have done so before, and just drilled 2.5mm holes for the shaft pins to go through to attach onto the bevel gears. Great trick.

I laid down some paint. It's a two part process of transparent red then gun metal. I tested this process out a couple of times to get the technic down before attempting it on an expensive body like this.   Quite pleased with the outcome.

Wow, that kind of metallic burgundy colour looks fantastic!

Those rims are great but I can't help but feel the gold centers are a little too yellow against the body colour.

Look forward to seeing it finished
