Hey guys its Alex you will probably remember my previous monster truck builds that have featured in my showroom my last build being a truck called Gauntlet (just waiting for Frank to finish paintjob!)

Well I have always wanted to do a build thread on this forum but was always held back as I struggled to upload photos. The up dated forum now allows me to easily upload photos. How sweet is that! So without further ado...

What do you get if you install a full Wheely King transmission into Kyosho Mad Force chassis plates? A Mad King! Plus a custom Wheely King that is totally unique in the world.

Hope you like the name of the truck Clawing Dead. This will be a scale monster truck build.

First I got busy with my drill press and drilled gearbox mounting points (red) bottom link mounts (orange) and upper links (green) I am un decided whether to use stock plastic one piece upper link or custom threaded shaft so have not drilled these holes yet.

Next I ordered 56 mm threaded shaft off rc4wd so now we have a working chassis :) will update when I have more progress.

Guys slightly off topic can someone help me attach picture below as my profile picture? Have tried many times with cut down versions but still says the size is to big.

I am well known on clodtalk and rcmt with this profile picture B)

The site does allow profile pics up to 1024kb.

Here is a version that meets the above criteria:

this is the best you can get, hope you like it. Simply [save as..] and upload it to youir profile....

you're very welcome.

I saw you worked on a TXT-1 before. I just bought a used TXT-1 that I will refurbish someday (hopefully soon). I'm looking for some upgrades/hop-ups but I am not sure if any hop-up is really necessary.

Yes I have built a stock TXT-1 in the past my most recent TXT based trucks have been Kings Bounty (full TXT-2 trans installed in Wheely King chassis plates) and Gauntlet (full TXT-2 trans installed into CPE Barbarian chassis plates)

The best upgrade I can recommend is a servo mount made by ebay seller sicnmeproducts which incorporates bottom link attachment and suspension attachment in one design.

If you do get a set make sure to install 1mm thick piece of plastic sheeting between axle and the mount this stops the mounts moving about. Also these servo mounts will increase wheelbase a bit with stock TXT-1 but easily solved by using shorter top/ bottom links.

Sky is the limit with these trucks. Don't get addicted like me! :)

All right , thanks! I just found the items on the bay, but installing these parts will change a lot on the TXT-1, doesnn't it? I was thinking of something like that to preserve the original look:

Yes a fair change from stock you would loose cantilever suspension set up. If you want to go in that direction and upgrade stock plastic servo mounts to metal that is cool also.

In the end I decided to save Clawing Dead name for my next monster truck build (ZRP retro racer) so I have called this truck Gauntlet. All that is left to do now is a) powder coat chassis plates dark gold and b ) finish off four wheel steer. That's it.

Body on shots to follow in the next few minutes so check them out :)

Ain't she a looker! Possibly the most modified Wheely King on the planet? Shock travel is actually 12mm's I got that wrong. I am considering selling the truck as it stands.

Totally unique one off Wheely King build there is only one like this in the entire world B)

Forgot to mention Gauntlet sold on ebay to a TC forum only member in September for 88 pounds :( never left me feedback or messaged me to let me know if he liked/ disliked the truck.

Have you guys any idea what happened to this truck have you seen it kicking about on any other forums?
