And, electronics!

Everything is tested, and seems to be running smoothly, at least in the floor of the house. Only battery I have that fits is the Ni-Cd that came with my Jimmy, though. None of my lipos fit. Was kind of expecting that, though. Any body have some recommendations of ones that work before I start measuring?

I did say I was going to leave the car clear, but I do plan on driving it, so I was a little worried that it'll so scratches and such too bad. I'll do up a clear shell later. For now, body is being painted. It's metallic, but not silver.... You'll see when it's done!

The usual go to LiPo sticks are made by Core RC and can be found at Modelsport.  Battery model CR293.

Can also be purchased from Scumacher direct

They are often available on Ebay along with one or two others such as the Yuki Brainergy LiPo

Also check out this thread on Tamiyaclub.  Plenty of info and pictures of various modern LiPo sticks in older buggies

Nice build thread.  I hope you're enjoying your new Egress.  I loved building mine, but I haven't run it yet.  I also fitted mine with a BZ motor and I'm sure it'll be plenty fast enough for my old thumbs to handle.

The Core RC and Yuki batteries both fit in the Egress' tight space.

Sweet, thanks! I had seen that thread before, but forgot about it somehow. I've slept since then, I guess.

I really like the Gun Metal. Just subtly different, but I think it looks a bit more sinister. Glad this will be my runner body, too, as I didn't get the decals as perfect as I would have liked. I'll do better next time.

Thanks to MatMan I have a ball center diff on the way, and I went ahead and picked up the bonus wheels the same seller had, too. Probably stick some dirt hawg tires on it for messing around in the yard and park, since I sometimes wind up on pavement. Can't wait to get a battery and start driving it, but it's been a really fun build. Probably like 10-12 hours, I think, from start to finish.

Nice work.

Yep great fun to build. I enjoyed this build more then the Avante for some reason. Maybe less complicated especially  in the front end.

Nice colour choice too.

Thanks you guys. Been working a crap load this weekend, so I haven't had time to do much, but I'm waiting on my wheels and Dirt Hawg tires to come in, as well as a battery that I hope fits. Reedy wolfpack stick lipo. Dimensions listed are pretty close to the Core RC pack, so I'm hoping it will fit. Cheaper than paying for shipping from Europe! I really wish there were more Tamiya guys around here. Everyone wants the latest and fastest Traxxas locally, so it's hard to find any parts that I need without ordering everything. I have a Rustler VXL I converted to a Slash, but I really don't like it all that well. Too fast to be fun, even just being the basher that I am. Sorry, just had to rant!

Got my Tower Hobbies order today! Reedy Wolf Pack can be added to list of batteries that fit...sorta. I did file one corner down, and it was still a very tight squeeze. But at any rate, it's in there, and I have a tendency to charge batteries in the cars anyway. I honestly rarely run them long enough to require a change. But also, got the Avante bonus wheels with the Dirt Hawgs mounted up.

I really like it! Handles pretty good (for my bashing around the yard) with one exception. I think I'll be putting in the ball diff soon. The two-wheel braking pretty well sucks, especially on pavement when I happen to be on it. Nothing like locking the back wheels to send one sliding sideways. I did manage to traction roll it a few times, something I was a little surprised at, but I think it has more to do with me and the high speed/high torque servo I used. Still getting used to her.

That colour is lovely, I did my Avante re-re in that colour too! So nice.

I think we can safely say that the Egress is Tamiya's finest moment...ever.

I saw yours in the showroom! I really like the color, I think it suits it very well. I do agree that this car is probably the most gorgeous car that Tamiya ever put out. Body on or off.

It's a bit old/late but your front and rear wheels are mounted on the wrong side, the tyres are rotating the in the wrong direction. Just swap both sets left and right and you'll be sweet. :)

You know, I wasn't 100% sure on that. There's no arrows, and I couldn't figure out the directionality. Thanks!

All good. Think of the tread as an arrow that should point in the direction of rotation. On your tyres you can see the outside tread all points in one direction (backwards on your car at the moment). This only applies to tyres with directional tread of course. :)

Any video made  for this beast? :-)

Unfortunately, no. I've been so busy with work, I don't get much time for them at the moment. I get a few minutes here and there for projects, but that's about it.
