As we know, every now and then Tamiya release a model that is basically a rehash of existing parts.

I rather enjoyed building my little "Trophy Fiat" that you may have seen in other threads, and that used only existing parts from other models, with no modifications required. If Tamiya wanted to, they could produce it as a kit without having to produce any new moulds or parts.

If you were the employee responsible for coming up with the next parts bin special, what would you come up with?

And what parts would you use to make it?

Another one I like is the "Grasshopper III" made by taking a DT-01 Mad Bull and fitting it with DT-02 front axles so that it could take Star Dish wheels and Super Gripper tyres all round. I am sure Tamiya could have made a fair bit from such a kit simply on the strength of nostalgic purchases by people who enjoyed the original Grasshopper and the GHII.

Perhaps there would be a market for a JCB Fastrac-themed offroader made by topping a WT-01N with the shell from the Farm King?

1. GF-01 with wild dagger wheels and blackfoot tires, fitted with the tumbling bull bodyshell.

2. Boomerang chassis with Winger shell, egress wheels and tires.

3. King hauler parts with high lift axles, custom wheels and high lift tires, and the tanker trailer to make a 1/14 6x6 Max Max War Rig :). The fuel pod would require some new moulds, as would the front bodyshell. And of course it would require a very large box :)

4. A replica of my 4x4x4 lunch box with the high lift axles. It's about 80% Tamiya and I'm sure I could get some CR-01 parts in there to remove some of the scratch built parts.

5. A King Blackfoot fitted with a sand rover bodyshell and monster beetle tires. I did this with my Mud Blaster as a kid and I thought it looked great, But I'd want the reliability of the improved gearbox.

6. A clod buster with some minor improvements (TXT-1 wheels and stub axles to widen the stance slightly), and CVA shocks all round, along with the original bodyshell and decals.

7. A Juggernaut 2 with high lift shocks instead of pogo sticks and TXT-1 wheels, tires, and stub axles.

There's more, this is just a start ....... :)

8. TXT-1 with slightly shorter suspension links and drive shafts to fit a Juggernaut 2 or clod shell on it. Don't like the new TXT-2 look, and TXT-1 wheels are getting expensive to get now.

9. A FAV with oil shocks all round and TLT-1 rear wheels and tires.

10. Anything 6wd with the new bruiser re-re gearbox and high lift axles

11. WW2 Panther II tank, made up from panther and king tiger parts.

Plenty more ideas, but they would require an increasing number of custom made parts, so don't qualify under the original suggestion.

(Like a 6x4 Mad bull with walking beams fitted to the rear axle to give 4wd on the back 2 sets of wheels.)

CR01 or TXT1 chassis rails + Clod Buster axles + TGM-02 gold dampers + Twin Detonator body + CR01 bead lock wheels + Blackfoot Extreme tires --> Super Rock Buster

New chassis plate + current-gen RM01 rear pod and links + F103GT front uprights + M03 axles + Alfa Giulia Sprint body + M-chassis wheels/tires with bonus RM01 HBR wheels/tires --> Giulia Sprint Superleggera

Lengthened TB03 tub chassis + TRF502X ball diffs + DB01 suspension arms and CVAs + Durga body + Baldre white wheels --> Regulus (the "little king" compared to Leonis)

I rather like the looks of this, the Rally Fighter:

Something similar in character could be made by taking this:

Tamiya-Mazda-Roadster-MX-5-M-05-Chassis-

But put it on one of these for authentic RWD:

Then adding TL-01 suspension arms for a bit of extra width and travel, trimming the arches a bit bigger, and popping on a set of wheels and tyres from one of these:

Mini Sleeved damper shock bodies. I would easily pay up to a 1000 euros if somebody sold just one single pair of these in new condition (and even more if they came complete with the green mini springs on them), but I've never once come across even one single pair for sale. Anywhere. Probably says something about how rare they are..

All other stuff that I want, I already have. But not these... :( almost given up on it.

There's a store near my house called TamTam which is essentially exactly that!

Here's some pictures, doesn't even scratch the surface of what they have, the store has a good 14-16 isles of RC components alone.

Their spare parts are all arranged by chassis type too, so it's really easy to find bits, I bought (fairly cheaply, too) all of the components to build a fully working TT-01 chassis recently, with proper bearings rather than the nylon rings.

As well as all of the new parts they have a pretty sizable collection of older/vintage parts for sale too.

As an added bonus, right underneath that store is a second hand RC store called CleCle too! bought a bunch of brand new "Full on" TSF-026 and TSF-028 wired terminals from there, reduced from 420 yen to 50 yen (about 40 cents a pop).

Bear Hawk Evo.  Using Blitzer Beetle chassis, star dish wheels and modern tyres, proper turnbuckles instead of plastic upper arms, bell crank steering from the DF03, and a lexan shell taken from a mould of the Mad Fighter shell.
