Hey-  I've researched this and can't get solid direction.  The Tamiya TS paint only has a very dull pink, not what I'm looking for.  The Tamiya PS paint does have a brighter pink that would work.  But, many say that isn't a good idea on this type of shell.

The funny thing is, the inner shell (as well as the re re Monster Beetle shell) says "PS" on it.  So is it ABS or PS?  The instructions tell you to get the TS yellow paint.

So, if I prime it can I go ahead and use PS paint?  I'm not going to drive it much.  If not, who makes a nice bright/hot pink spray that will work for this?  What do I get?  I do have an airbrush so you can give me an option for that too but I prefer spray can.

PS paint is for polycarbonate (clear lexan) bodies - PS = Polycarbonate spray. If you use it on a hard body you will usually get a dull, coarse finish.

If you can't find the colour you want, why not try 1:1 car paints? Lots of interesting colours available..

Legacy, where are you in the world??  (It sometimes makes it easier to recommend brands and products if we know were you are located)

I use automotive acrylics, (or automotive touch up) paints on my ABS bodies..  Halfords (UK), or Holts Duplicolour etc are quite popular, and good quality.. Some auto parts stores will carry a range of automotive acrylics under their own brand in limited colours that may suit your needs.. Just read the Warning below..

If you are looking to spray your lunchbox Fluorescent Pink, then I will suggest putting a clear top coat over the pink to help it shine, and not fade as quick..

WARNING... Just remember that you should not mix paint types, eg oil based and automotive acrylics, as they can react together.. I would show caution when spraying similar paint types, but of different brands, as they still may react with each other, so I would recommend testing them on some scrap before painting your LB body..

Hey, I'm in the US, Missouri.

Try Walmart ?

Found some Hot Pink spray paint in a 99p/£1 store over here in the UK - brand is 'Paint Factory' - all sorts of colours available.

Look at the Duplicolor Brand of Automotive paints.  They have every color you can imagine and I recall seeing a hot Pink on the shelf at the store. I use Duplicolor paints on all of my hard bodies exclusively and have never had an issue with coverage, peeling etc.  Just be sure to wash the body in dish soap and rinse real good.  As a Final step I wipe the body down with 91% rubbing alcohol to make sure I have everything perfect.

3 light coats should do it.

Google VHT Engine Enamels SP756

Yes but some are much better than others. I wouldn't buy Krylon and use it on an RC body. It's much too thick and the spray pattern is terrible. It's almost impossible to get a decent paint job on anything smaller than a lawn chair.

If you can find the VHT or Duplicolor brands in the color you want you will b much happier. They are real automotive paint and have a super hard finish.

I went to ace hardware down here in Florida and picked up Krylon colormaster, paint and primer together.

I find the key is patience with paint and don't be shy about thin coats and sanding. I still find tamiya paints to be best, but when in Rome....go to Walmart and get plastic paints...are there Walmart in Rome. Lol

Sorry didn't see your Krylon statement before my earlier post. It is a bit thick.
