I was wondering what you fellow R\C'ers like doing for "fun" with your models?

I really enjoy tearing up the beach, I know its not the best for R\Cs but I have always found it so much fun.

A few months ago I asked on the forum what a good beach runner is and many of the fellow Tamiyaclubbers recommended the Blitzer Beetle (which if I am honest I never liked the look of) I gave it a go and now love it and am a converted Blitzer fan

Its a great car and a superb beach runner, and a BIG THANK YOU to Percymon for the excellent paddle tyres I got from him!

So what floats your boat for having FUN with your R\Cs?

Building them. The sense of achievement is awesome, even when it doesn't go entirely according to plan as it's pretty much always better than the last one.

That moment when the paint is polished, the decals go on, and the whole becomes so much more than the sum of it's parts. Bit of a cliche. Sorry about that. But nevertheless......

When I came back to RC,I was just looking at the usual bashing. Thanks to TC,I've started doing trail driving

Fun? Maybe, but very relaxing and very, very satisfying!

Buying them

Building them,

beach running,

snow running,

Hill climbing,

Mud plugging / water wading with tanks / monster trucks,

Doughnuts on a frozen pond (Although that ended with a drowned boomerang)

and last but not least, drag racing with 3S brushless :)

I really enjoy the builds the most. Probably why I have 15 cars now. Also getting kinda fond of strapping cameras to them. Someone recently suggested I start doing YouTube videos, but we'll see. Have a Garmin Verb Elite coming, which has GPS, so I can have a speedometer overlay. Should make it interesting especially on my 6s Kraton....:o

I'm with JoFan...  I enjoy the Build...  More specifically, I enjoy the Hunt for Hop-Ups and testing them out on my cars...  I just tweaked my Frog's front suspension again last night!

The bit I enjoy most often is probably buying :P  when all else fails, buying another NIB or built car gives a small bit of satisfaction.  Sometimes more than others.

I love the build, but sometimes I end up building for an event or a deadline and the rush takes over, I stop enjoying the build and it becomes a chore.

Racing once a week is fun but it gets repetitive when it's the same thing over and over, it gets frustrating when I can't improve and then I get annoyed with it.  This summer has been super-busy so I've temporarily given up racing for a while.  My favourite bit about racing is the social - meeting up with race buddies and talking nonsense for 3 hours.

I'd like to say I enjoy racing my buggies around dusty terrain, but truth is, I usually get bored after 10 minutes.  I'm a solitary person and I like to be alone, but playing with cars alone just doesn't seem to satisfy.  Even technical pursuits like crawing or trailing don't have the same appeal as they do in a big crowd.

The bit I get the most enjoyment from is bashing with others.  Not racing, just general bashing.  It's strange because I'm a natural introvert, I don't really like being around lots of people and I shy away from busy events.  But give me a bash with a dozen like-minded RC nuts and I'll happy hang around all day playing with toy cars.

The past few years have been really dry as all the local TCers have moved on to other things, the Iconic bashes have been my only outlet for bashing but they're mostly too few and too far away for me.  I really need to get off my backside and sort out some more local meets.

The highlight of the calendar for me is the Iconic Revival, which is now less than two weeks away.  So much excitement :D

For me, rescuing and rebuilding old RC's that are destined for the scrapheap is what gives me the most enjoyment. :)

I suppose it's all about the hunt for me, the hunt for vintage cars, the hunt for vintage hop ups, researching the best hop up / parts combination, and then the testing....

If I'm not painting or building I'm refitting electronics, I'm always looking for the next project. The last one a camaro for my wife to replace one the neighborhood kid destroyed,  while doing that my brain comes up with a paint scheme for the other camaro shell I bought. I still have a Blitzer beetle chassis to start let alone finish. I like my stuff to run and if the test run is done I'm happy to put it on the shelf until the next park day. Watching my kids bash at the park is nerve-wracking so they have their cars I have mine. Same with my wife she likes the care free type of car care, I'm more restrained in my allowance for crashing. Certain cars are destined to roll, crash and bash, and so the fun for me is the upkeep of my fleet. And The dad only section of the garage.

I like building them and fiddling with/repairing them/setting them up. Posibbly more than driving them.

More often than not I only drive them out the front of my place.

I like buying, building, problem solving, improvising, photographing, fixing, learning, tinkering with tools and even painting but most of all I like getting out to the creek a few days after the rain with a Super Clod and making the most of the delicious brown mud.

I love all aspects of the hobby. Buying, building, running. One of the things I enjoyed the most over recent years was taking a Tamtech and turning it into a full on racer. The satisfaction of exceeding the expectation of the car was a huge buzz. That thing was raced every week against 4wd buggy's and more than held it's own. I don't race now so I am looking forward to just running the Mad Bull and getting the kids into the hobby.

I really enjoy tinkering with them. Sometimes I just sit at my desk for hours on end and look at the way the suspension works, shimming a few components here and there, and then calling a day completely refreshed.

At the track I seem to be the local mechanic. More often than not on an evening I only go through 1 or 2 batteries on my own car, and work on other people's jalopies for the rest of the time. I'm not saying I'm really good at it, but years in IT and before that, help desk, have made me quite good at deducting problems, be it with RC cars or computers.

When I do get to drive, there's nothing like working on your driving and your setup, eeking out that last tenth of second per lap while changing nothing but the setup of the car and your racing line. I feel like I then do a little justice to the racing heritage of my cars. [floaty mode]Possibly even satisfying whatever soul they may have by letting them do what they're good at, reaching deep within and lighting their racing spirits.[/floaty mode[

Lately I've been messing around with a CC01, and with that car I have great pleasure driving it in the most scale-like way I can, befitting its realism and the fact that it's "A model suitable for radio control" instead of an RC chassis with a body on it that only sorta looks like the real thing. Slowly running it across uneven terrain, watching the suspension compress and extend to dampen the ride, moving in and out of the wheel arches, and even hearing the occasional groan and squeal from the body shifting around on the holders while it slowly flexes to climb over a half-buried tree root or something.

With all my cars I also enjoy taking pictures of them in their natural habitat. For the TRFs this is on the track, while the TT is more of a parking lot basher, and the CC literally goes anywhere.
