IIRC just the rears were remade for something - Was it summat like the Willy's Wheeler conversion kit or one of the Boy Racer buggies?

I had a few sets back in 2003, they were pretty easy to get hold of back then

I thought it was just the Subaru Brat tires that were used on the Boys' Racers, paired with the TR-15T's rear wheels all round. I had no idea there was a Willy's Wheeler conversion kit, but that would have used the slightly-smaller Willy's Wheeler tires; the rally tires would not fit the shell.

Whatever the case, that was a great find!

As Grastens said, I think Twinset might be thinking of the "Boy's Racer" cars which saw an unexpected revival of the Rough Rider rear tyres. (They are technically Rough Rider rear tyres, as this was the first car that used them - not the Subaru Brat ;))

The Opel/Audi tyres were (to my knowledge) limited to those cars, and as such, are among Tamiya's rarest tyres today.

That's the one!

As for those Michelin TRXs: that was also surprising since previously, the Wheeler tires were definitely the rarest. Happy to see them back, although that shrinks the already-minuscule odds that we will see the rally tires re-released...

The RC Boy's Wild Ceptor wheels are unique to that model and much much smaller than the TR-15T wheels. Close to M-chassis wheels in size, but quite a bit chunkier. Front and rears are also different, with considerably more offset for the rear wheels.

The 'Ceptor wheels look similar to TR15/Chrome Blitzer Beetle/Street Rover versions but, as MK says, they're smaller

If they fit Ranger/Brat tyres does that make 'em about 1.6" diameter?

click for the big picture

The Willy's Wheeler conversion 'kit' mighta been a misleading reference; a few years back the Wheeler body was released for a show and came with instructions on how to convert a WW2 to a wheeler.

Can't remember the reason behind the flood of Ascona rear tyres (and not fronts) but I had loads of them at one point so they must have been cheap!
(Could've just been JR-RC found thousands!)
