moffman 5752 Posted March 30, 2017 My rarest again has to be my Porsche 959 but this was before they had the rare tag attached to them! I got it from beatties when it came out and the woman who was behind the counter opened the box to put the battery in (because it was one of their deals) and said "this one slightly different as it has rothmans decals not racing decals so I'll give you a bit of a discount it must of got mixed up back at the factory") long story short is i had that for years in my parents house and about 5 years ago unknowingly to me my parents had a clear out and it disappeared! Probably in a landfill somewhere (it wasn't in brilliant condition but it was intact and with technigold!

Hibernaculum 933 Posted April 6, 2017 That is indeed very disappointing. And it's just one of many stories here over the years of precious R/C gold being sent to the local dump by the witless oxygen thieves we call 'the pre-R/C generation' (our parents)...Β On the bright side, here is a little something that I wonder if anyone else has, and which (given it's fragility) has managed to survive for 37 years... This is a little official Tamiya 1980 calendar card, featuring the Sand Scorcher on one side, and the B2B Racing Sidecar on the other. It is quite small, and isΒ the only one of these I have ever come across, so I have taken a couple of iPhone photos of it here for you guys... anyone else got one? I love the Thunder Dragon, but this body is one I bought in about 1993 to replace the wrecked original. I can't believe how expensive it would be to get a new one now. Desperately hoping for a Re-Re! You could always get a TBG body. They do the Thunder dragon, not original but very good quality

Β My rarest kit is the D parts tree for a Hotshot 2 - NIP. These are like rocking horse poo.Β Even though a few parts have broken off; I somehow managed to find another used battery door from a very good TC member who has an aladdin's cave of spare parts. Igottamiya 0 Posted April 12, 2017 My rarest gems are my 2 x Toyota Hilux 58028. Β Followed by an Β original Bruiser and Mountaineer. Β Nothing else really compares to these two and I never get tired of looking at them. Β I'll sell every thing else before I let go of these babies.
Jason1145 3986 Posted April 14, 2017 What price would a decent condition Nissan King Cab command these days, running original mscΒ and period spec radio gear? My LHS has one built in the 80's for sale, haven't seen it yet he mentioned it over the phone, might go see it. He wants Β£130 for it, this would be my rarest if I get it. Prescient 671 Posted July 11, 2017 Nothing overly spectacular about the individual ones, albeit the SBF a is rare one nib, but I have the full set of Blackfoot new in box; i.e. the original 1986 Blackfoot, Super Blackfoot, King Blackfoot, Blackfoot Xtreme + Blackfoot III for good measure. My rarest in nib condition has to be my Bush Devil which is still fully new in box, the metal parts box still sealed, blisters still mint, bodyshell still stapled to the backing card etc.Β

Here's a picture of one of the oldest RC cars on this forum. Its my prehistoric Jerobee. I pulled the gas engine setup as it stinks, and I won't allow that in my house. But I still have the stock gas engine parts if I were to ever sell this old dude. The body is 5mm thick fiberglass, and the chassis is equally thick aluminum plate. Its truly "tank" like construction compared to today's RC cars.
Wahrsuul 1 Posted January 2, 2018 I still have a NIB body kit for the Clod Buster, the first one with the chevy emblem in the grill. Β An Optima Mid Special (I think that was the name) - came stock with the carbon chassis.Β Mint, never run. Β My almost mint all stock Avante.Β Bought it new, ran it once or twice, and shelved it. Β And apparently an almost unpainted King Cab body.Β Tried painting the tail lights, didn't like it, so bought an aftermarket stadium body and used that instead.Β Still have it and the King Cab, but never run it anymore.
