They may look nice, but they don't offer any particular advantage over plastic hexes. Even worse, they may wear out your wheels by getting stuck in them.

I'd go for the clamp type hexes shown above. They're much nicer to use and stay fixed to the axle when changing wheels.

Plastic wheel hexes can split and break.. Aluminium ones are a good upgrade if you need to replace the plastic ones..

The clamp style aluminium hexes allow the user to clamp them to the axle, which generally stops them coming off and getting stuck in the wheel when a wheel is removed..

I  once bought some from Yeah Racing at Tamico, and they were fine. They're not as cheap as the ebay cheapies (you get what you pay for), but not as expensive as good Tamiya ones.

The alloy hexes are usually available in many different thicknesses. If in doubt, I'd measure the thickness of the plastic hexes supplied with the car to know what I need. Thicker hexes are able to provide a different offset/track width, but make sure there's enough thread on the axle shaft left for the wheel locknut.
