I'm interested in putting a High Lift chassis under a Tamiya Jeep Wrangler shell. I just can't accept the IFS front end found on a CC-01 under a Jeep. A shortened frame is definitely a requirement. Possibly turning the transmission backwards for body clearance? I'm positive someone must have built something like this before, but I'm having trouble finding any detailed pics. Any pics, links or suggestions would be of great help. Thanks!

My advice ?  Get this from RC4WD:

The 3 speed transmission is outdated on the High Lift chassis, sure it's 3 speeds but all in 4wd.  At least the Bruiser/Mountaineer chassis is 2wd or 4wd.

You can just add the Tamiya body set to the above chassis.

I have the Trail Finder 2 chassis (converted to single speed transmission) and it is a decent bit of kit.

Good luck with a decision, could be tough :P.

Or save yourself even more money and get a MST CMX. They are designed specifically with Tamiya CC01 bodies in mind, will allow you to attach the body using the original body mounts (no drilling extra holes!) and the wheelbase will be absolutely spot on without having to custom-build a bunch of stuff from scratch.

I don't think the high lift chassis can be shortened enough to accommodate the small wheel base of the jeep wrangler.  The transmission is really long.  Plus the axles are pretty wide for the jeep body.. I have a SWB trail finder 1 for a jeep I have.

I dug through some google images and found a brown High Lift Jeep that Wyoming must have built although how he did it, I don't know. I agree, the HL trans is pretty big to fit into a short wheelbase Jeep.
