studioRS 213 Posted September 8, 2016 Here's a little treat. Decided to tackle the 1977 Tour de France rallye, Eminence livery, Almeras-Fres Porsche 934 turbo. As an Art Director, I spend most of my day designing magazine and catalogues. At night, totally enjoy designing one-off Tamiya Porsche 911 sticker sets with as much realism I can. The Tamiya Porsche 934 turbo GT-01 is a great little base, the body is so detailed. With limited mods though, you have to think out of the box. Inspired by another TC'er I've bought some of the Kawada rims and some Tamiya upgrades. The photo that inspired my crazy path for this build. Based on other TC users speediness, I seem to be on the snail schedule for completing projects. Happy to report, this project has already passed up my 959 project! Research mode on, more photos...
studioRS 213 Posted September 8, 2016 Sometimes you need to take charge and be your own Santa. Rewind to last holiday... See I'm that sloooow. This will be a combination of a box build, also picked up the Jaegermeister body set and an extra clear body for the rallye spec body. Obligatory Tamiyaclub parts photos...
studioRS 213 Posted September 8, 2016 Fast forward, built kit out factory settings to here. More parts... Rough template tracing for the rear paint. And, sticker set is designed and printed on clear and white vinyl.
Theibault 1535 Posted September 8, 2016 Very nice project. Looking forward to seeing the body done. I'm surprised you didn't wait to do this on the 40th Aniv. 934 that's just about to come out on the TA-02 chassis.
studioRS 213 Posted September 8, 2016 @Theibault Thanks! I need to dive into painting the 934 bodies next. More progress should happen soon. Good idea on the 1/10 934 40th, didn't even think of that! Besides the already available livery designs for the 1/12 scale... These were on my short list, maybe one or all of these for the 1/10 scale 934 turbo 40th? An I have done two Tamiya 911 sticker sets in Illustrator! One was a replica of the Taisan livery and the other was unique!

I'm also in the middle of finishing the 911GT3 Luminox Pike's Peak hillclimb sticker set, should be fun!
Raman36 1647 Posted September 10, 2016 Interesting project. I built one of these last year, painted the body lemon yellow / RUF 911 CTR. I also managed to get my hands on a Novak 380 8.5 brushless .. It's a quick and a handful like a true 934 lol.
studioRS 213 Posted September 10, 2016 Originally wanted to go with a brushless, but in my typical Tamiya fanboy method, I chose factory parts. Maybe after I get this finished and run it in I'll upgrade. Definitely look into the Novak 380 8.5, thanks for the tip.
Shodog 1834 Posted September 10, 2016 I've got a castle 8000K brushless in my 935 and it's ballistically fast.
studioRS 213 Posted September 10, 2016 Yeah, I just dropped a Castle SC3 Sidewinder into my Slash 2WD and they certainly do scoot!

It would be great to find a 1/12 934 in ABS for this amazing paint job.
studioRS 213 Posted September 16, 2016 I was planning to recreate the HCC Ski Wear design as vector line art and print on white Oracal vinyl on our Roland 540vsi printer for the lean 1/12 and 1/10. I could also print this out on Bell white water transfer decal paper for applying to ABS.

We are gearing up for printing white on clear too, just needed some more clear media. Very nice printer, I'll post up a close up photo of the Almeras Frey decals, sticker set. I use to have a SP-540V myself (A old machine now!). Always wanted to do white or metallics, but at the time I'd heard there was lots of issues so we stayed away, Issues seemed to be mainly with clogging print heads, a little bit like dye sublimation printing, where the print heads would clog easily. How do you go printing white? I guessing the technology is much better these days. I use my Fathers HP Latex printer now, first gen though, still overall not a bad machine. The colour isn't quite as good as the Roland, but you can use the prints immediately, a big plus with some of the things I do. Oh yeah, I'm a graphic artist too
