These were sold in TC as 1988 Avante hafshafts, but they're not. Oh, what a nice surprise it's been...

Anyway, I have no idea about what car these belong. Anybody knows? Please help me if you do.

No.

Not Madcap.

The Madcap half shafts were chromed.

The Astute half shafts had a rib in the middle.

The King Cab half shafts werethicker and had a bigger rib in the middle.

I guess they could be from something other than Tamiya Erich? Gee probably gonna be real hard to pin point what they are unfortunately

Well, chances are they're not even Tamiya. And what's worst is the TCer who sold these ones as "Avante halfshafts" doesn't reply my e-mails anymore.

Are they vintage size ? or rere size ?  dog bones  .

Hi mate. Not sure what you mean. I need the rear halfshafts for a 1988 Avante buggy, and these were sold in TC as that. But they are not. All I know is they were packed with other vintage Avante parts.

Or as mtbkym01 said, who knows if they are Tamiya indeed? :(

According to my copy of the Avante build manual, the rear driveshafts should be 61mm long and appear to have a unique profile - centre part is straight but there is a slight taper at each end towards the round part & pin.

I will have a look to see if I have some used parts.

Previous response about the Madcap driveshafts being chrome finished is correct, although these are the correct length so would work.

Could they be supershot drive shafts ? They are the right profile and colour, and I seem to remember the spares being sold as front and rear, so 2 different lengths. Maybe some of the gurus can confirm or shoot me down in flames ;)

You know that vintage dog bones were bigger ends & re re were smaller dog bone ends ( ball & pin sizes ) .

Yer !! i have know idea what they would be off .  This is why i was asking dog bone size , may narrow it down .

Could be TL01 long arm ?? << not sure . But the ball & pin size of bone matters , to try & hopefully find what there are .

Good luck M8 ..

They look like they could be Kyosho Optima/Optima Mid, but the only information I can find suggests they are 68mm?  Can anyone with an Optima original or re-re confirm?
