Nice going @mtbkym01, especially seeing as it was a ‘first try’ 😉

There seems to be a few kits making onto shelves now, so hopefully it won’t be to long before choosing something goes from a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to a ‘Which one’ decision again.

Yes true mate, my LHS is expecting some kits relatively soon, will be tempting no doubt when there are a couple different Escort kits there

We got placed into a 7 day lockdown due to an outbreak of “Delta” variant Covid19, which doesn’t affect my work as I am classified as an “essential worker”. Having said that I did work from home for 3 days. Then the weekend came around and with not a lot to do decided I’d grab a kit off my shelf to build. Now we have extremely ordinary cold weather at the moment so I have a few painting jobs to finish, and this will now join them. Won’t bore you with the build in detail, just a couple highlights.

A few might remember this bracing system that @mheald designed and sold through TC, it’s a very neat solution that I’m very happy with (I have another set for my MB re-re too)

51332180304_58af1d1265_k.jpg

Almost a roller, was now when I went to grab a “black can Sport Tuned” out of my electronics drawer and realised I didn’t have any left (forgot I used them on my last couple TC builds), one of the 2 “Super Stock” Motors was tempting, but decided at this stage I’ll through the kit silver can in until I order in some more black cans

51330722277_1b22ec9930_k.jpg

so it’s a roller, the yellow wheels will become black

Now’s where this takes a little turn. I like most wasn’t too happy when all the “Ford” stuff disappeared from this kit. Well, thanks to @Pintopower Ampro Engineering through shapeways 3D print shop, I ordered the Grille and Emblems to reproduce the faithful F150 Ranger body. This is a bit fiddly and requires some modelling skills, but should be worth it once complete.

The new Grille Insert

51333421476_7738f753c5_k.jpg

And the emblems on the bonnet (hood) and tailgate, these still need some tidying up with a bit of glue residue. Unfortunately the “spruce” these arrive attached too were both a bit twisted so aligning them was difficult (repositioned the “O” on the bonnet already since this pic. Hoping with the colour scheme this will be, that these really set off the body

The tailgate (and the Grille again)

Looking forward to getting better weather so I can get some paint on this (and my Black Clod featured earlier in the thread)

Nice 👍🏻, did paint them or manage to dye them?

Thanks mate, ended up painting them. I noted they were ABS, so went straight to paint

Quick update

There are many truck bodies out there in RC land but this by far the best looking. The black wheels make it look really menacing!!! Well done

I’m using automotive Acrylic as it’s cheaper than TS cans, went with a colour called Lightning Strike, which is a Ford colour, once this hardens I will mask up to do the bed Matt black. Clear coat will hopefully really bring the colour to life too.

I cut out the stickers, so as I could align the tiny 3D printed side logos, pretty happy how they came out, sat the Roll bar on to get a feel for how it’s looking

Started on details, still a bit to go, but getting there

I like antennas on old school cars , so trying a little red flag on this, think I quite like it. Still some detail to go, including Rambling Ron, but it’s getting there.

Man alive that’s nice mate 👍🏻
Silver is a bit of an underrated colour IMO it goes great with the red and the red chassis now looks more a part of it than an afterthought. Excellent stuff.

The Aussie Flag can look OK for these to, available at Woolies around Australia Day 😉

The Custom F150 Blackfoot is complete

The bonnet (hood) letters aren’t fantastic as I think I mentioned earlier, the sprue was a bit warped, but other than that I’m pretty happy with how this has turned out, looking very original if I do say so myself.

I will change out the motor for a “Black Sport Tuned” from AliExpress once they arrive.

A few builds ago, I was stalled on my Black Clod build due to not having paint, well fast forward a few builds and I’ve had the paint for a while. Finishing my Blackfoot inspired me to crack on and get the Clod going again, here’s a teaser as I work my way through the body work

So a quick recap on the Black Clod

This is where the build stalled, as supply of Tamiya was poor due to covid and my LHS struggled to get me the paint I was after.

Years ago, when I first got back into the Hobby, I won an auction from O/S for a NIB Orig Clod, not realising that the Chev logo disappeared soon after it was released. Back when the Clod was released I left the Hobby before the change, so didn’t actually realise there was a non chev original. I was disappointed and began looking around, I found a Chev Grille and Tailgate which wasn’t described as used, but when it arrived, it definitely was, and wasn’t fit for my NIB. It sat in my spares for years, then along comes a Super Clodbuster Black edition with red parts. Are you starting to see where I’m going here.....A Black Clod with a twist?

Pics following....

Stripped the chrome off all the bar work (the grille being used was already stripped). Primed and painted everything in gloss black, then a set of MCI stickers in original style, then flat clear over the body including grille and tailgate, but left the bar work gloss.

Its my tribute to the original Chevy Clod Buster, the true king of them all, and I’m really happy how this turned out

Cool looking tribute to the original. I like the subtlety of the matt & gloss black. Somehow I forgot the drivers name is Klem Klubfoot  love it!
