Absolutely @Problemchild, all Clods need a Chev Grille. I’m definitely not a fan of the 4x4x4 grille, would rather the original with no bow tie than that

I’m not as good at this as some, but “Rambling Ron” is ready to buckle up

Time for a new build, couldn’t decide what though, then thought “Hmm, I’ve got a 45th Anniv on order, better get a 40th built before it arrives”. Obviously have had it sitting on the shelf for a while, was rewarding to open it up and get a start

A nice RZ for this one

51426655900_6d4022ea29_k.jpg

A nice high quality build so far, the steering surprised me having zero slop despite plastic components

Bags A,B, and C complete

51426434594_9821dd5636_k.jpg

Electronics next, will use a HW 1060, and a BlueBird servo in this one

Electronics of choice for this one (just waiting on some RX’s for my Spektrum)

51432198821_3aff9e7740_k.jpg

Will never use plastic hexes on a build either, had these in my spares so on they go

51432941794_5df0ffb359_k.jpg

and its complete (ish) just paint and stickers (and RX) to go

I love how chunky the rear end is, the 30mm tyres and the 934 rear shape is hot!

It been a while (a very common theme in this thread :P) between updates, but basically sat and cut out and applied stickers today, then installed some LED’s including additional’s to complete the light kit that I saw included in the 40th. All that’s left to call it finished is finishing the Semi Gloss Black on the rear spoiler, bit intimidated by that though, masking is gonna be critical, will have a crack tomorrow. Here’s some pics

Shweeeeet 👍🏻 Did you do anything to alter the wheelbase on the chassis? Because yours looks good to me.

I did, I modified the front arms by about 5mm, then added 5mm spacers to the front side of the arms. I thought it would be ok unmodified, until I fitted the body and saw the wheelbase issue first hand.

I checked the car and it’s the kit 21T pinion in there, but to be honest this car will not get driven very much. I like to build all my cars “complete” but some get minimal or no actual driving. I have runners for driving so this one probably won’t end up in that list

Great, thanks. I can't find any info about the gear ratio for those motors.

Depending on your use, and from past experience, they are pretty good on standard gearing. If your are concerned you could start a couple teeth lower and monitor temps as you go

A couple solid days and the 40th Anniversary TA02SW is finished, s pretty standard build but I’m happy and proud how it turned out.

Started by doing stickers on the body, so this sticker is the first thing I did to the BH

51843519439_492676cff0_k.jpg

Didn’t completely finish the stickers as I’m still contemplating which number to use

Started on the front end

51842219947_0389c8766c_k.jpg

51843897395_6baed19d7d_k.jpg

and onto the cage

51843156501_b6f240d62b_k.jpg

Thats all I’ve had time for so far, very enjoyable up to this point.

A couple steps after work tonight.....

Nope, those won’t do (they will never do)

51845735821_88b10be9b7_k.jpg

whoops, there’s an extra brass 850

51846478610_1e6eae5dca_k.jpg

Gearbox grafted in, feels like building a full scale buggy this

51845848613_fb7eba2a21_k.jpg

Rear trailing arms fitted

51845848583_353273ba3a_k.jpg

And finally for today, rear shocks fitted (feels very oversprung)

Bit more progress...

51847537423_f04f5bfcd4_k.jpg

51847537383_ca82f1c25e_k.jpg

it basically just needs electronics and numbers, still deciding what motor to use, and waiting on some servos, I have one but don’t want to use it on this, saving it for my Monster Beetle.

Also plan on trying some things with wheels and tyres when they arrive

I woke up and because I’m impatient, went through my electronics drawer, and found a servo that is not ideal for this car (grey case), but will go in (at least for now). Decided on a black “Sport Tuned” motor from China (more about the looks) and a 1060 style ESC. Steel 18T pinion as well.

51848596638_7e1faee24e_k.jpg

Pretty poor specs from this servo from memory

51849186850_5b0ee87659_k.jpg

Motor wires lengthened and plug replaced on ESC to Deans style
