As I'm waiting for a scale item from China, I've started thinking about driver figures with a difference, and while in a KMart store today, found these little guys for only $3 each, so thought I'd grab them, not sure I'm gonna use them yet, what's your thoughts?

So between state title prep and the general business of Xmas, and work, I finally made some progress on the CR01, installing esc and RX, and finished the interior build.

Been very quiet for me on the RC front for a while, I’ve had this FJ40 project at the so close to finished stage, but still not quite done, and I’ve been working on this for probably nearly 12 months as well

Wow, been  whole year between updates for me, been not doing much RC for the last 12 months, a little bit of 1/10 and 1/8 racing, nothing on the project side of the hobby, until today......

The Monster Beetle (body resto shown above) finally ended up on my work benchB24CFD0F-F7F7-4C54-887D-5455A6DA97AB.thumb.jpeg.480a3e3d022049f80d645020d9675e46.jpeg

Yuk, that’s ugly

the strip down got underway.

its basically fully disassembled and all parts degreased and cleaned, my little ultrasonic cleaner was going flat out. I need to rebuild the shocks, and looks at the Speed Controller and electronics, this won’t be run, gust rebuilt back to original. I’ll get some progress rebuild pics as I go

I’m putting the original electronics back into this one, as it won’t get driven (I have a re-re to build for that), and I like the nostalgia of the old mechanical speed controller

So it seems I’m out of photo space on the forum,, and since my photobucket is all screwed up, I just created a flickr account, so here’s my first attempt at linking a pic, it’s the old Servos and RX that have been cleaned

Ah yes the FJ40, I’ve got a servo extension wire for the light bar, it’s been sitting on my workbench for about as long as everything else, might finish that off next ;)

So as this isn’t going to run, I decided to rebuild it with brass bushes instead of bearings (I couldn’t bring myself to use plastic ones). The front may get bearings yet though :)

Ok, back to the MB, rebuild well under way, time for the shocks

The rear springs didn’t really come up as nice as I’d have liked, the rust really etched them, wasn’t happy to use them at the end of the day

So, I jumped into the spares boxes, and found some blue anodised springs that will do the job, and luckily, they basically match the body
