mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 27, 2019 Another day, another job ticked off the list. I bought this Falcon from fellow member KalEl63 back in 2012 looking like the first pic. A nice clean looking livery. I made a largish decal order from MCI a little while ago, and while sorting through some of my stuff the last few days, found I ordered some Falcon decals in that order. My plan was to get hold of another body and do something else, but I thought this body is brand new, so will apply the decals to it. 6BE5EB89-CDFE-43C9-88C4-4520F4A251F7 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr Now it’s looking like this (Don’t think the decals suit the colour, but I like the box art decals being on my cars) 2BE36443-18AE-48FE-A66B-18906EE65F33 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr AB0C132D-E7B7-4D4C-B97B-9C7C71A7841B by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr A448D948-577A-4EAE-B1C2-7E1461A991B9 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr 4E7CA1B0-1885-4A9B-9936-11F2E6633256 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr (excuse the poor photos, seems the Pearl White over exposed in the sun?) mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 27, 2019 Found these laying around, and after seeing how the Monster Beetle shocks came out, gave these the same treatment. mtbkym01 4008 Posted February 2, 2019 Update time, back onto the Turbo Optima. My stabiliser kit came in which is a new release from Kyosho for their legendary series Optima/Javelin, but is almost identical to the original (the front bar is slightly different shape on the original.) 889C8249-5A0A-41BC-8C4E-93B6876C00AC by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr But firstly, lower chain/belt guard and lexan cover in place FB6F584C-57FA-4E04-BAC3-D31ED6ECC9DF by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr Also, I’ve got some big plans for all my left over parts, and wanted to keep the 2 chassis TVP spacers that I have for that project, so my LHS had some parts from a HPI Savage that I thought I could use. mtbkym01 4008 Posted February 5, 2019 But wait, there’s more.......... Ive been on the lookout for parts for a number of years, knowing that I’d be working on this at some point. Unfortunately none of them would survive running of any description, but some are probably ok to sit on the shelf. A couple are totally stuffed though. I recall I got an ESC for my Fox, and this speedie was better than the stock Marui item, so I figured I’d fit it up to the Big Bear BEB79A73-6722-455E-9BCF-18E9D2BAA7F4 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr 77993D31-13DA-4814-8827-D0743865F970 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr The gearbox looks intact, so will be subject to degreasing and reassembly. mtbkym01 4008 Posted February 9, 2019 So way back I remember this truck had major steering issues, popping ball cups at will, So back then I was attempting “something” and hacked into the chassis just behind where the tie rods pass (forgot to take a pic before I started repairing it. mtbkym01 4008 Posted February 9, 2019 The bad news is the tyres are basically all not useable, trying to fit them onto the rims, and they’re tearing at will, so I’ve seen people use lunchbox/WW2 tyres on the original rims. But this requires modifying the rims to suit. So I’m looking for opinions here, do I cut the rims down to suit the smaller tyres? 0A3BEB15-BDF4-43EC-9260-CFDE0FC3FEB2 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr

Yep I’m with you Erich, I’m not gonna give up on the tyres, they’re now resting after a silicone coating, hopefully I can actually get them on the rims without tearing. The tyres are what make the look of the Big Bear, and it’s how it needs to look imo. I ain’t gonna give up. mtbkym01 4008 Posted February 16, 2019 And some more work done to the Big Bear. I’ve very gently fitted a set of original tyres onto the rims (minus the lock rings that sit inside the tyre, as these put too much pressure onto the tyre and tear just trying to fit them). I plan on continuing to keep these tyres sprayed with silicone so as they don’t deteriorate any more than they already are. 620A1964-ADE2-4047-B026-55874BAD9520 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr Body sanded and primed 138F74EC-A6DB-48BE-9374-78EC928E8A2B by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr First coat of Ford “Smoke” laid on AF72BB8B-0D76-48D9-A017-F95E36A5EEC4 by Kym mtbkym01, on Flickr Electrics in while the paint dries, I’ve fitted an ESC into it, although this won’t be able to be run on these tyres, if I find some other options to run it gently some time, I wanted a reliable ESC in there.
