Motor installed

Servo, ESC and RX in. Funnily, I had to black/red red/black the motor & ESC wires. I wish I tested it first, I would’ve swapped the motor wires around when I soldered them, no harm, it’s not seen anyway. Another quirk, the ESC switch is on at off, and off at on

and it’s a working kit now, will do the tyre lettering, and then finish it off with some “glamour” shots once my 2.2 Pepper Pot wheels arrive ( @KalEl63 has some lovely Turbo Scorpion 2.2’s on his runner that he has just built, looks stunning)

@mtbkym01Looks great! Lovely work. Will it be a runner?

It’s a good question, all my new built cars are “runners”, just that not many of them actually get run. Most of my RC fix is handled by my 1/8 off-road racing, even my Arrma 6S doesn’t get bashed much.

Very nice 👌🏻 👍🏻
Quick question(s) how do you reckon the silver plating will hold up to being run? What colour is it under the silver?

@Re-Bugged I think the wheels wouldn’t hold up very well, a bit like anything gold plated, I’ll check out the Sprue’s for the arms etc and give them a bit of a scrape, I will report back 👍🏻

@Re-Bugged I think the plating on the sprues is quite thick, think it would hold up quite well, not as good as straight plastic but still pretty good, if that helps you 😂

Had this idea in my head for a long while, have been slowly acquiring the bits and pieces I need to hopefully finish it, will let some pics do the talking…

I was thinking about getting everything anodised or powder coated, but didn’t want to spend that kind of money on parts that are pretty average, then I thought about paint, but really wanted a chrome blue effect. Ended up buying some blue chrome vinyl wrap off eBay to try and wrap the alloy bits. The shock towers are FRP ones I bought long ago, hoping the rear one isn’t too tall to affect the Javelin cage that will be going on this, got some assembly done, really happy how it’s looking so far

For display purposes, I like to get the brushed black can Motors, and “dress” them up with labels from MCI, so for this build I’ve put a “Wimpy” motor in, the blue and yellow leads fit this theme perfectly.

While the top deck get some work, I thought I’d test fit the cage, seems the rear shock tower will work

Got some lettering on the tyres

51863789112_4b6eb2b638_k.jpg

and here’s what I started with

So I used the best parts out of that lot to build my Optima

A new cage, wheels and tyres, a 3D printed spur gear, some shocks and a pair of drive shafts and I have a Javelin in my collection, really happy with this on the shelf alongside the Optima and Turbo Optima

I might hunt around for a Kyosho driver figure as they cover the receiver, but in the meantime this will do

That’s a tasty colour combo 👍🏻

This fella looks the same as in my Javelin if it’s any help..

Yeah that’s the current version, the original was full lexan including helmet, I think the current one will be better in Javelin as he’s more visible 👍🏻

My JC Racing 2.2 Pepper Pots arrived, bit disappointed in the “silver” versions, was hoping they’d look a lot better

Starting to look a bit better

51883706005_d489b802b1_k.jpg

Gonna clear coat them too.

The black ones have found a home already, in place of the disc wheels that I had on there. Expect the discs to appear on an upcoming @KalEl63 build

@Tamiyastef I’ve seen their plated wheels before, they are very nice, I think I was expecting these to be plated I guess, anyway I’m now happy how mine look

Just realised I hadn’t posted a finished pic of my silver Pepper Pots in this thread

Have made a start on a project, or maybe it’s more a re-do of an old project

The last couple pics probably show what I’ve been up to, code name “Wild Fox” or maybe “Fox One” I not sure.

My Original Wild One came to me in a very sorry state

51915165061_7bd6d37d01_b.jpg

Which I rebuilt into

51915261863_9b5c652296_b.jpg

51914195217_d9e7da3da0_b.jpg

Although I was relatively happy with the result, it never really felt like I did the best job of it, and after building my Blockhead, it made me want to do a better job of it. Thanks to @KalEl63 for the shocks and wheels, and plenty of discussion back and forth, we came up with a concept

51912493577_c3ff553f35_k.jpg

51913550453_ea9f54b186_k.jpg

Using all hexhead stainless hardware

Testing the look before some longer screws arrived, and considering using the FAV roof piece left over from the BH build

51913455801_f2f3517408_k.jpg

51913774944_96d8fca182_k.jpg

Just some stickers to go

51912493562_90261cc938_k.jpg

51912493397_12f220ca37_k.jpg

I think I’ve done a much better job this time around, and this is well on the way to looking exactly how we thought

Thanks, and yes it looks great, I have a plan for stickers and if it doesn’t work like I imagine, no stickers works well
