mtbkym01's project thread - Latest “1997 Worlds Winner - Yokomo MX-4 Super Dog Fighter”

Recommended Posts

Been struggling with time and extreme temperature, but by chipping away bit by bit I managed to finish the timber frame work for all the walls, and today managed a few hours putting in insulation. Hopefully the wall panels can start fairly soonB)

Dont mind the average gap filler, the stuff I had was very old and a bit dry, it should sand down ok. Got some new stuff for the rest

Making good progress mate. I don't believe I'm the Lone Ranger when I say I'm looking forward to seeing it completed. B)

I still don’t think you’ll have room for the Vanquish so I’m happy to look after it for you

Man, it's only been a fairly average summer here in West Aus but I'm over it already. Can't imagine what it has been like for the Easter Seaboard and South Aus. They've copped it this year.

So walls are up, and ceiling framework and insulation in, next is ceiling panels, painting and some kind of flooring

The “Project” continues, half the ceiling panels are up, with half to go. Had Mrs mtbkym01 out there with me helping hold the panels up, while I got the brads into it, even got her using the Brad Gun (which I think she really enjoyed)

Its pretty slow going as I’m doing the work on my own (Mrs helped with the ceiling holding the panels up), but I am getting there.

Trying to do this as budget conscious as possible, I found these MDF mouldings to use as cornices for only $5 for 2.7m lengths, got them fitted up and gap filled above them (they are designed for 90 degree angles and these are obviously not). Pretty happy with the finish, tomorrow night after work I will start to “cut in” the ceiling paint, getting closer

Bit more done, first coat of ceiling paint.......using more than the tin suggested, pays to read the whole thing, expected usage was on an undercoated wall, whereas I’m just going on raw, all good, just need another 4L which I’ll grab in the morning.

I now find myself in Self-isolation after travelling back from interstate yesterday and missing a deadline by a couple of hours whereby I now must self-isolate, which basically means work on the shed will happen much quicker as I can’t go anywhere or do anything for 14 days. I’m now calling the ceiling officially done, it has about 4 coats of paint now. The joints did crack, so I’ve run a flexible filler into the crack and applied another coat of paint over them. It’s far from perfect but will serve this purpose well enough.

Next job will be to give the walls one last wash, then the wall paint will go on. I’m lucky to have basically all of the supplies I need to finish the job, so won’t need to delay much to pick stuff up.

Stay tuned for more.....

First coat on the walls, it’s darker than I imagined, but I’m really liking the colour. It covers so much better than the ceiling white too. Need to do some joint work, then the 2nd coat will go on tomorrow, Progress now folks 😎
