M05 V2 suspension pin set, there appears to be 2 longer ones, unless my eyes are playing tricks on me

There are definitely 58.5mm long shafts in the M05 V2 set. I use them on the Super A5 I designed for my Thunder Dragon.

Pressed on while waiting for parts. I’m basically at a standstill now, although I could do electronics, but I’m deciding if I want alloy servo mounts or just use the kits ones 🤔.

I’m hoping that I can use a shorty lipo, but will need to cut out the body first to ensure the bullet plugs wont interfere. I’ll also need to work out a better system at the nerf bars to secure it side to side.

Additionally, what to do with shocks? If I stick with the CVA’s, i will definitely need to dye them black, as yellow wont work with the scheme this one is gonna be. I have some TRF X Rings, and shaft guides coming from PJ so could build them with those. Or do I try and find something suitable in alloy?

@mtbkym01 This is so lovely. For shocks, I think try cvas. Because it is monoshock on the front you can use all short shocks, which I have used all round on my Ultra G Evo.

Get some 42332 blank pistons and a pin vise set for great pistons.

I have had a look at the manual and dampers both ends have a lot of spacers in, so maybe get the lovely trf501 front piston rods which should mean you won't need to use internal spacers and can tune the damper lengths using various eyelets.

I reckon all that lot from a cheap vendor will still be less than alloy shocks, and with the car needing such short shocks the tamiya alloy shocks are all far too long.

Trimmed the body this afternoon to check fitment, and rear wing mod alignment. I like how it looks so far, will see how it looks once painted but very promising.

I’m loving how this is turning out, possibly better than i even hoped so far

Well, nothing came in this week, so didn’t get much done. But the yellow CVA shocks are now black

IMG_8510.jpeg

Waiting on the TRF X Rings, then I’ll build them up

Couldn’t resist, had to sit her on her boots, need to decide on servo (thinking a low profile) and fit RX and transponder, then set up the ESC which needs to be zero timing and boost (basically Blinky mode, although this ESC doesn’t actually have Blinky).

Oh man, that is gorgeous. Like when a Fox gets influenced by a JJ Ultima. Hope it goes as good as it looks- and this is even before the body gets paint.

It feels pretty rigid as the top deck braces the chassis plate very well. Just waiting on a few bits to finish it off

Couple more small jobs ticked off.

I fitted some thumb nuts (Bigger than I thought when ordered) to the front of the battery straps. Will be able to loosen them off to allow batteries to slide out

IMG_8538.jpeg

The Servo and Mounts arrived so was able to get it fitted. AliExpress mid range servo, brushless and HV. Its actually really nice so happy with my purchase for around $60AUD

IMG_8539.jpeg

And all fitted

IMG_8540.jpeg

And old school AMBrc transponder fitted

IMG_8541.jpeg

It’s so close to done now, I’m just waiting on some alloy posts that I ordered before the servo from AliExpress so who knows when they’ll show up

Quick update, the alloy posts I’ve ordered are MIA, so I’ve re-ordered some others. I’m ready to finally call this done and get on with the next build. Getting impatient!! :P

Finally the 2nd lot of posts I ordered showed up today

So was able to get them fitted

I’ll need to trim my foam battery spacers down a tiny bit as you can see in this pic it is under a small about of pressure

And, that has now allowed me to finish my 2wd Vintage Demo Racer for the Aust titles later this year

Next up will be the kit I build for 4wd demo, and despite some objections to project threads in the “Why no build threads” thread, I will be showcasing it here. TBH, I actually tried to start this thread way back in the builds section, but it wasn’t allowed.

That is wonderful. I wasn't sure about white, but I really really like it. Looking forward to hearing how it runs. Should be a great vintage racer.

What a beauty mate 👍🏻

Is this your new favourite Fox now 🤔

Gee it goes close mate. My original from back in the day does still hold a special place, but this one is obviously on another level.

Once my 4wd is done, I will get down to the track for a shakedown run and report on how they go

I was thinking about what I’d like to build for 4wd Vintage Demo, when I stumbled upon a Top Force kit for a great price. After just having completed a restoration of an original as seen a page or so back, here is a new build with a few hop ups. This one will be 17.5 brushless

IMG_8481.jpeg

I got straight onto ordering parts that i wanted to use on this build

IMG_8506.jpeg

IMG_8512.jpeg

IMG_8537.jpeg

(The blue motor mount was for the original, and the blue servo posts were for the FW fox build)
