Stop showing by that awesome ( to me) Honda Civic shell!!!!

I'm seriously considering getting the real 1:1 version of that and will then have to get the 1/10 shell to match! Try explaining the thinking behind that to the wife?!

I did buy a pair of HPI Mazda MX-5 Miata shells to match my current DD.  After I sell my DD I will honor its many years of service with an RC build.

Speed run fail.  Picked up a 4600 castle with the sidewinder esc. Trial run hit 84kph with lots of throttle left. So I started the camera and gunned the throttle. 😳

4wd is not immune to power wheelies.  The only damage was a missing body clip

This motor is rediculous.

Only a 4600kv motor and hitting 84KPH! Add some weights to the front now, looking forward to seeing this TT02b again.

Like another lipo 😁

You could try altering the settings on the esc (if castle link supports?), back the slipper off a touch  (No nothing of the chassis, does it have one?) , or fit some slightly less grippy tyres (if you have a selection available), or of course, just roll on the throttle 🙄

I'm liking the slow motion option on modern mobiles, vid the launch, adjust, vid the launch adjust and repeat until it's sorted.

Just dug it out, my mistake, it's only a ORI28125 12800kv motor 😔

Paid more than that too! (Is that price right??)

Yup that's correct, they sold off loads of old motors for dirt cheap a while back.

The motor is made for 1S pan cars but I know that won't get your way!  What you thinking 6s? :) lol

The motor is a Castle Creations 1406 series.  4600kv 100,000 rpm.  The esc is the Castle Sidewinder 3.  Waterproof brushless unsensored.  Odd since the motor is sensored and the ESC that is bundled with it is not.  Guess that's to keep the price down.  It was $109 for the combo at the LHS.  If you have a TT02 Series Tamiya in any version B,D,T(not that anyone wants a truck with that FDR) or plain, it takes $20 worth of parts to make it a 70kph+ RC.  All of these parts fit in the stock Tamiya Chassis with no modifications.  That does not guarantee the rest of the car will hold together but these parts give it the capacity for that speed.  These are TamiyaUSA prices. I found most of them cheaper elsewhere.

High Speed Gear Set - https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio-control-parts-70/hop-up-parts-72000/rc-tt02-high-speed-gear-set-54500 allows the use of any sedan style spur gear.

64t Spur Gear - https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio-control-parts-70/r-c-spare-parts-71000/rc-tb03-06-spur-gear-(64t)-51356  I chose this as I was attempting to stay full Tamiya for my build.

29t Pinion - https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio-control-parts-70/hop-up-parts-72000/rc-ff03-06-module-pinion-gear-54229 This drops the Gear ratio down to 5.74 according to the chart that came with the high speed gear set

I will have to run the numbers for a theoretical top speed formula when I get time.

Here is a link to the build thread

and a Pic of the finished product with the shelf body that I will not use for speed runs.  I use Dual Block K Tamiya tires for speed runs.  Saving the spikes for something else.  As soon as I get time and enough nerve and I am more confident with driving the buggy with that much power I am pretty sure it will break the 60mph/97kph barrier easily.

Im not sure even i would expect that to stay together @ 285000 rpm! Lol

Tbh something that's rated at 110a cont needs some serious juice, and most my lipos are 25c , except my race ones, they are 130c but a bit expensive just to see what happens, so I'd only run it 2S.........maybe 🤔

Dude what's the lowest spur and highest pinion combo that will fit the TT02 with the High Speed gear set.

I see the high speed gear set comes with a 68t spur but you are dropping down even further with a 64t spur and using a 29t pinion... you got the adjustable motor mount too?

Hope you get the nerve soon, and chuck some bigger tyres on for even more speed! ;)

In my quest for staying as true to Tamiya as possible a 29 tooth is the largest they make that will fit. It even has mounting holes in the stock motor mount for that pinion. I have read a 31t will fit but I don't see how without shaving a tiny bit out of the gear box cover. I used the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount in case I decided to abandon my mission to use Tamiya gears.

I have the exact same combo.  I got mine from A-Main and at the time I thought it was a pricing error as the other sidewinder combo's were the same price with sensorless motors.  It worked out about $15 more than just buying the sensored motor alone.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some big numbers from your car.  If it was mine I would stiffen the back end up and soften the front as much as possible with a good amount of toe out, lock the front diff and try shoe horn some foam's on there.  If no foams i'd go for these, https://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-mounted-tarmac-tire-wheel-set-white-2pcs-/rc-car-products/375896.  There from the HPI WR8 so are much bigger than 1:10 but still with the 12mm hex.

What battery are you using?

At £4 A pop, it's worth a go! Just hope it doesn't take the esc out!!

Just checked my TT02 and it's got the stock plastic motor mount and 22t pinion, my high speed gear set arrived today.

If I wasn't so distracted by my new Dune buggy thing I'd start put electrics in the TT02 for high speed but can't be bothered just yet.

The high speed gear set has instructions for which holes to use. It's broke down in a chart for the 64t, 68t, and 70t spur. Then depending the size pinion which holes to use in the stock mount.  It shows from 16t-29t. Everything else requires the YR motor mount.  Then you just slide the motor over in the mount and manually align it to the spur.

That looks like it means business.. oozes speed potential, the only fuse failure points now are the location and the driver lol... noooooo pressure ;)

The motor mount still has room for a bigger pinion but yeah it'll catch the gearbox unless you shave some off.

Is it only classed as a modified gearbox if you shave some off.

If the pinion just happens to catch and makes it's own path, then that's just wear and tear 😉 😁

Lol nice try but no, that is not normal wear and tear, in this application we can say its a result of doing something the chassis was not designed to accommodate, by fitting too large a pinion in the allotted space within the gearbox designed by Tamiya ;p

But who's to say someone can easily disguise this if they wanted, it's only from someone knowing the physical limits will we be able to go, oi oi, I know for a fact that pinion won't fit in the gearbox without modding/rubbing/filing etc.

Nice try though, it made me lol :)

TT02B

3s 1500mah

4600Kv Castle

64/29 spur/pinion

Tamiya Dual Block K tires

92kph (57.17 mph)

youtube didn't do a very good job focusing on the speed. The original is perfect focus. If I need to refilm I can. That run made me nervous.

Awesome run dude, the car looked like it was well planted!  Get yourself a decant battery and you will smash the 60 barrier :)

Thanks! It's quite an odd feeling having a chunk of expensive plastic driving around at 60mph on the brink of being out of control.
