Thanks! It's quite an odd feeling having a chunk of expensive plastic driving around at 60mph on the brink of being out of control.

Odd, but addictive! 😁

Is that a new castle 4 pole sensored motor?

Looks to have alot more poke than my sensorless. (Or mine has lost some with its not so gentle use over the years....🙄)

Got some good FF01 footage this morning.

including a blow out at high speed  (was recording in slow mo at the time)

Just about squeezed the No.2 spot on the FWD leader board lol.....and so close to the top 10!

Will upload later

FF01

5300Kv Motor

3s Lipo (3300mah 30c)

66t Spur

30t Pinion (48DP hence the slight squealing)

77KPH (47.8mph)

Good runs this morning, did get a 78kph on that last run where the tyre split....but didn't record it. Tyre rubbing on the wheel arch caused the failure. Will get some foams on order and try and break the 50mph barrier.

Hope you get the nerve soon, and chuck some bigger tyres on for even more speed! ;)

Can someone explain something. I put the tires and rims from my wt-01 on. Significantly larger.  I took a test run with my 4000mah 20c 2s lipo and the top speed was slower than the same battery with the stock buggy tires.  Is it the gears keeping it fast with smaller tires?  It hit 68kph with the 2s. It should have been faster

Did you reach full throttle on the trigger? The larger wheels would take a longer distance to get up to the same max revolutions so maybe you didn't give it the full beans?

I felt like I stayed on the throttle much longer.  The small wheel must have spun to max speed faster.

Sounds like a lack of horsepower to me, too tall a gearing and the motor hasn't got the grunt to reach max revs ;)

Sounds like the answer to me

Foams ordered...

I'll be in that Top 10 hopefully by next weekend :)

Just needed a few extra meters of clear tarmac...so Foams may help get that traction down early.

So you're gonna try smaller gearing and hope for a faster speed or give up?

When I upped the tyre size on my DT03 the top speed increased on the same gearing, motor and lipo.

Scratch that, having looked back at the thread I think it's more likely that the 1500mah 3S can't supply the current required for the taller gearing. When I use 3S with my 4000KV motor, I'm using a 4000mah 25c battery.

Jason I think you meant to post the link to that 12000kv motor didn't you?

Or both? Just upgrade both. I would try the bigger battery though, my lipos are 5000mAh or bigger, and over 100C and they made a massive difference over my mates smaller ones once a bit of turbo and boost were added

Me esc says not to use 20c batteries and that's all I have.  I'll get some larger ones ordered next round. It stutters a bit on takeoff.

Lol what 12,000kv motor is that? That might rip these famously tough Tamiya gears if used with a proper lipo ;)

The highest motors I've got are a couple of Castle 6900kv's left over from my Traxxas Slash days, and that's my limit.

I think the ships sailed on that motor, @Phil_H bought the last one 🙄

I was thinking of buying another too,in case mine grenaded itself.😎

I may have bought a couple.... 🙄 :)

At that price, why not!

They come with a sensor cable too, worth it just for that!!

You need a decent esc though, my muchmore is 140A and that says it's only good down to 3.5t!?!

Nice work on the run Phil (and the motor hording), which foams did you go for?

I started building the F103GT this morning, think it's gonna be good :)

I need to keep an eye out, probably won't be cheap.

The mamba max pro will seemingly take it , in sensored or sensorless mode (I'll know for definite when I run it), one went on eBay last week for £75 which isn't too bad (was tempted! Lol)

I now have the 64t, 68t, and 70t spur.  I have  16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 28, and 29t pinions.  The stock tires are 86mm diameter, the WT-01 tires are 127mm, and I have some 130ish mm.  Anyone have a suggestion to look at how to gear this thing to get more speed with the larger tires?  I will get another larger battery once I place an order.  That may solve the issue.  For now to just bash around, I have it geared with the 64t/22t combo which the paper says is a 7.56:1  The 64/29 drops it to 5.74:1

Smaller tyres will keep the Centre of Gravity lower, and may be more stable so you can get a higher speed. So I'd go 29t Pinion with a 64T spur and small wheels
