I will get another larger battery once I place an order.  That may solve the issue.

Macinnis, it will solve the issue:)   I was amazed how fast you got with the 1500mah, hence my comment about smashing 60 when you get a decant battery.

Get the biggest MAH, highest discharge battery that you can shoe horn in there and then run the smallest spur and biggest pinion and hope it holds :)

The fastest you can get will be 64/29 with the 130mm tyres... as long as your battery can supply the draw made on it by the motor through the esc.

Built the 419x last night, don't think I could handle seeing it tumbling down the road. I also got the parts to fix the FF03 so game on for the weekend :)

Do it!!! Just have the camera running so if it's a fireball, it will be epic!!!

I've found a nice long private road to try, I reckon the car park I use isn't long enough to get the most out of the FF.  I can get to full throttle, but on for a short amount of time. So with Foam tyres and a slight tweak on the timing I reckon the 50mph barrier is doable.

I also have another Chassis coming this week......hopefully will get me past 60mph...I have high hopes. But keeping it quiet until I've built it lol

May get a run in Sunday, I'm out all day Saturday

Just got offered one of those in an eBay after sale, I never went as far to ask a price.

Updated Run for the FF01

Same Spec as before, just added some Foam tyres much more traction...so able to squeeze a bit more out of it ;)

Get me on that Top 10 list!!!   84KPH (52.2mph)

I swapped motors over afterwards and used my 9T (4250kv?) motor and got the same speed. So either my Battery is at it's limit (3300 40C) or my Cheap 120A GoolRC ESc is at its limit.  A 5300Kv more should be Quicker than a 4250Kv using all the same power supplies and pinion!

You weren't even a little bit tempted? That is one car I would like in the stable, would have to try racing onroad again though.

Have you considered it may be that the car is faster but the speed meter is not registering it as you are at speed for such a short time ? Try (with a helper in the passenger seat operating the speed meter) going from 40 to 50mph in your 1:1 and see how responsive the speed meter is. (it would also be interesting to see if registers the same speed as a normal satnav). Mine takes a good few seconds to register, I think I need to hold max speed for at least 5 seconds for the peak speed to register properly.

An alternative if you can is to measure out 50m and mark the distances, then film the car going over the distance at speed and then use the timestamps on the video to calculate the speed over the standing 50m. I suspect that this will be more accurate than the speed meters if you film it ok, and you might be going faster than you think. This was what I did in my 'Need help in the horsepower wars' thread to work out how fast the cars were going, by fitting a gopro on the car and running over 2 lines marking out 50m. Of course you can use a shorter distance, but then you need a camera with a very good frame rate.

I'm going to take it out Sunday on a longer stretch of road. See what I get.

Although I'm still a bit suspect of my cheap Chinese ESC!

Never to confident in after sale offers, been bitten with that before (cashed cheque,(it was a while ago!) deleted account and denied all knowledge etc etc).

Plus, it would be over my comfort spend for a touring car thingy which I bet are naff over triple jumps.....

Nice work on making the top 10 Phil :)

I use the 37Sh Contacts also, I'm gonna try harder ones next time I order.

I agree, 5300Kv is actually quite a lot for 3S.  My man math says that 50-55 is about right for your 9T setup so I would run the 9T with a slightly bigger pinion and see what happens.

This TA05 might persuade you...

I'm still in awe of the shinny thing and the F103Gt is getting the speed treatment next....   but maybe after I'm done with it :)

I was out again yesterday, awesome day but too windy (again) and had a tumble with the FF03 that ended in a broken Hub Carrier.  It's a carbon reinforced part and I was surprised it broke with such a small impact.  It wasn't a total fail though as I increased my PB by 1.3Mph with my 3s HPI Sport 3 to 78.3Mph, only 9.7Mph to go!

The car is already fixed and I should be back out again over the weekend.

Thought i'd share some 2s battery testing that I did with the FF03. I knew that higher discharge and more milliamps hours would make a difference but was very impressed by the actual results.

NanoTech 6000Mah:                   65-130c = 52.1Mph.
NanoTech Ultimate 6000Mah:     90C       = 56.2Mph.
NanoTech Ultimate 7500Mah:     90C       =59.3Mph.

Admittedly the gains are more than you would get from an average 2s set up due to the high KV of the motor (9550kv) but the numbers speak for themselves :)

I'm surprised at the difference between the fastest 2, I would've expected 90C discharge to be giving enough from a 6000mAh batt. Had a debate with a mate about this a few months back, he was keen on higher mAh and lower C because of the higher total amps it could supply (both were big mAh and high C batteries) so looks like he is right

So the 65-130 is more 65 than 130 then!?!

Max power output , mAh X C

Sounding fairly similar to torque x rpm in 1:1. (Without the ÷ 5252)

From what I can tell yes, I thinks its something like 65C continuous but can give a 130C burst which tails of quickly. The advice I got for racing batteries was buy 60C or better to start out, but top racers need the 100C +. Another guy told me that the better battery is actually more important in stock class as it can keep deliveeing the required power even at the end of the race, which sort of made sense to me. The price difference wasn't huge, I think about $30 each so I went with the better ones.

Only ran this as a 'Control' test, this is my 60mph+ Chassis I recently bought...so was pleased with the initial runs!

I literally removed the MSC and Silver can, and fitted the Brushless, didn't even check it over first....the Counter gear/spur melted after the 3rd run. So now it's being stripped down and fully rebuilt ready to break 60mph.  Got full throttle for a few seconds.....and had my smaller less powerful battery.

Speed Run Entry:

TA-03F 4wd

5300Kv Motor

25T Pinion

Stock Spur (Not sure you can change these...so whatever the stock on is)

3s 2600mah 20c Lipo

Foam Contact RC Tyres (26mm)

88Kph 54.68 Mph

Good control run Phil, now get a bigger lipo in there and get over 90kph ;)

Cheers Jason

That's the plan.

Ordered a bearing kit, and some spare gears lol.

I did get it going again as I found a spare spur in a load of parts. But it chucked the belt off this time (87kph)

Attaboy keep at it, lucky to find a spare spur like that, wish I could!

I went to put a fast motor in my new to me DF02 buggy to try and get a decent 4wd top speed entry - but after rebuilding the diffs and replacing the bearings the first indoor test broke the spur gear where it sits on the pin... it shattered the plastic at the centre hole... guess it's an older buggy than I thought ;)

So I immediately ordered a new 70t spur and then later researching the gearing for this DF02 I found it can also  support a 67t spur which allows an increase in pinion from 19t to 22t .... so I'll run it 19/70 and if it can handle it later go buy the 22/67.
