I've got a TT01...

But every time I try and run it something breaks!!

Needs a new Spur now I think.

Be interested to see what you can achieve with the TT02

Courtesy of Wembley Stadium lol.. not guaranteed to try it but it's there so....

Is that just open so you can rock up and run a toy car at real car speeds with no one giving you any grief?

Anyone can get access to it from the street it's free to walk on as it's the outside concourse area... but there will be 24/7 security and patrols for sure and they probably won't like it... not to mention the CCTC all over the place.

The good thing about a 4wd is they get the power down quick and brake well so the run space needed isn't as long as corva RWD car... not sure about a FWD.

My money is on them wanting a go! 😁

Speed Run Entry

Front wheel drive

FF01

Ezrun 4300kv

Unbranded 120amp ESC

2200 3S

40mph - 64kph

Nice run, looks quicker than 40mph too!

Don't know if @Phil_H noticed any speed reading improvements mounting the GPS outside the shell?

I've not really done a comparison, although my 109kph run initially was only reading 50kph with it mounted up the back end near the motor. As soon as I moved it central it was reading correctly. Not sure if the motor was interfering with it, or it was just not getting a signal.

I might do low speed comparison next time I'm doing a run.

It's funny you say that cos I did a couple of runs with the body off and only managed 38 and 39mph so assumed by putting a body on it would slow a little, put the body on and it pulled the 40.

I'm happy the speed is correct after a number of runs were in the same area speed wise but now realising just how hard it is to get above 50mph......

Putting the body on may have had some small positive aerodynamic effect. I'm pulling over 50mph with my 4000Kv motor on 3S, but my 3 cell pack is 4000mah with a 25c rating, it may be that your battery doesn't have the oomph to get the motor to it's full potential. How have you adjusted the timing on the ESC with the program card ? Also worth noting is that the SkyRC unit seems to take several seconds to register top speed, perhaps a location where you can get a longer run might improve the speed reading slightly as well...

Yeah I'm sure I read that somewhere about the SkyRC units taking a couple of seconds to register a speed, I guess its time to move....

My FF01 spec for 50mph+ was 30t 48dp pinion..which is not quite right for the 66T 0.6mod spur but does mesh. It's a GoolRC one from eBay.

5300kv motor

3300mah 40c Lipo.

The battery makes a big difference.

My Motor and ESC are both cheap Chinese items...the same as used in the fast TA03 run.

Oh...and Foam tyres for traction, can't recommend them enough. (Contact RC 37sh)

Best way is to have two different model GPS devices mounted on the car, not only does it increase the dollar loss if it all goes up in a fireball but it adds extra weight which is always helpful.... as shown here ;p

That's very odd..... the position shouldn't make a difference, I've seen them mounted all over different parts of RC cars, inside and outside the shells.... must've been a loss of satellite signal which can never be proved as you can't run alongside your RC at 50KPH or 109KPH to check it.... or can you????

Guys... what say we do a speed test of us.... set the GPS to zero - put the GPS in your pocket, and go for a sprint.... tell us all the results! (DO not hold the GPS in your hand, the swinging movement gives a false reading!)

List updated!

Hyperlite that is too small an area now your speeds are up that fast ;p

I know! :)

What is the correct pitch for a pinion on the FF01 ?

Mine only measures whole numbers, so that test would prove to be irrelevant for me! 🙄😂

Google earth is great for scouting about the area ( local knowledge too).

Hopefully this place will serve me (Although costly atm)

I was worried it had broken (its had a few rolls recently). So re positioned it and ran without the shell a few times and it was working fine , must have just lost signal.

Anyway..I've had it in my car since that run and it's pretty much spot on. I even put it in a little storage slot in the dash, and it still registered.

I'm going to put my Sat Nav on one of the cars and the SkyRC and do some low speed, short burst  runs and see what the difference is

I took my dt03 out there for a speed run I'm really disappointed I was hoping for 40 to 50 mph as I managed mid 40s with the same gool rc motor with the matching goolrc 40amp esc which I burned out. With a cheap Chinese 120amp esc and the same motor I'm only hitting 38 mph. I think either the motor or esc is dodgy though as the performance is very hit and miss.

The next chassis get parts lined up... TT02

Looking forward to the rise of the TT02's, mine is coming together nicely.  Just need to decide on electronics and I might even get a few test run's with it this weekend.
