What!

😂

Sorry bud I couldn't resit when the other run was so close :)  I promise that's it although I do plan to put a bigger pinion on and try for over 40.

Get some bigger gearing and get back out there

Ordered a bigger pinion about 2mins after you posted your speed entry

Managed to run the 3S Mad Bull today on a silver can. Hit 48kph / 29.8mph. No video so can't post as a entry, but not a bad starting point. Didn't fry the motor either. :D

I must admit....I've contemplated buying one of them £59 Grasshoppers on eBay just to see how fast I could get it.

Touring Car chassis' are certainly the easy option for speed....but it's not the most exciting, however, trying to get 80mph+ is keeping me engaged.

The HCT is brilliant fun, found some dusty/sandy ground the other day, got a bit carried away with time :) ...and already eyed up a spot for the weekend to have a bash.

I ended up sellin my HCT as it was limited in its use... wish I'd kept it now but my flavours of the month change so much I always go back to where I once was.

I have a Hornet with larger than stock wheels on, I'm sure that would get a decent silvercan top speed when I can muster the energy... £59 you can't really go wrong if you have the time to build it ;)

I think I'll be happy to get a car over 100KPH, my DF02 has been ready for a month now, new chassis after the last break, alloy rear hubs after the last break, the biggest gearing available (67/22) with MadInventors custom brass fitting for the spur gear to replace the weak plastic part,  new 120a esc fitted... but my new M03 and Sonic Fighter restoration ( plus a new TL01 inbound) have distracted me away from speed runs.

My ultimate goal when I had my Stadium Blitzer was to get 100kph...

I've passed that now, but still think I'd like to get another Blitzer and give it a second go using some of the stuff I now know compared to back then.

I'm also going to try an 'off road' speed run with it, i.e. not on tarmac, concrete, or grass. At some point I'd also like to run it with a more powerful (i.e. brushless) motor to see if I can get 50mph+ from it.

67 / 22 is not the highest gear ratio available. TT-01 speed gears can be made to fit, I ran my DF-02 at one point with a yeah racing 61T spur gear ;)

Go on Phil you can probably pick up a decent second hand roller for £60-£70 and try to beat my Blitzer Beetle, if this isn't a challenge (atleast an easyish one too) I don't know what is, and fair play if you beat mine, that was already hard to control.

You like to make things difficult for yourself!

That "can be made to fit" part sounds like effort!!!! Good to know there are further options though if I want an option for higher speed, dropping from a 67t to 61t spur will be a good bit more oommpphh!

New Blitzer Beetle for just over £100 on eBay!

Get rid of the ESC for probably £15...so sub £100...tempting, although would be nice to get a Stadium B again.

I sold my NIB Stadium B 4 years ago not realising I wouldn't be able to buy another :(

There's a slight difference in size (along the shaft) between them. All I had to do was either shim it or shorten it in the lathe, can't remember which, but it was not a big job.

Would that then mean you'd sell the Blitzer beetle? 🤔😁

While waiting for parts to arrive, I decided to see what my M06 would do with a 4370kv brushless setup. All stock gearing with 20T pinion. I had it all hooked up and blipped the trigger on the test stand. The well worn S-Grip tires ballooned out a bit. I hit the trigger a little harder and the insides of the rear tires ballooned so bad that they broke the glue and were standing up off of the rim. At this point, I thought two things:

1. I should be wearing safety glasses.

2. There's no way this will be drive-able.

I unmounted the tires from the rims and realized that they were more worn than I thought, and felt paper thin. I have a new set of tires for it, but these don't say S-Grip on the sidewalls. The packaging just says 60D. The 60D tires are a lot thicker and more firm than the stock tires, so I decided to go with those. I found a video where the guy uses tape to stop the ballooning effect, and gave it a try. Surprisingly, it really works! The tires were firm and barely showed any movement on the test stand.

With the new tires taped, foamed, and glued, I went out for a test run. I set the ESC to Medium takeoff power and 75% braking. Both of which turned out to be mistakes. I should have used Soft takeoff because the wheels spin like crazy. I had to really ease into the trigger to get it to go in a straight line. Rolling burnouts were insanely easy (and fun). With the braking at 75%, the rear would lock and send the car sliding if I hit the brakes too hard. I forgot to bring the ESC program card with me, so just decided to deal with the brakes. I made 5 or 6 practice attempts before having a go at a real speed run.

I do not want to submit this as an official entry.

Just as the car passes the camera, right at 1:34 in the video, you hear a smack sound. That was the sound of a rear upright bending. I accidentally locked the brakes and slid sideways into a parking curb. It also bent a rim. New uprights already on order. Also, that's 51 KMH, not MPH. I feel with more practice and room to run, I can get a bit more speed out of this car. I'm only posting for fun and show. I know where a bigger parking lot is that doesn't have curbs, and will be going there from now on.  I have another chassis on order that I will be dedicating strictly for this thread.

Nice run Fisher, that M06 looks great!

Did you order a whole nother M06 kit??? I know RWD is fish taily happy that's why I'm keen to up the speed in my FWD M03... I did notice it's still easy to spin around 180 degrees with it's shorter wheelbase though.

M chassis love :)   I painted my Swift yesterday just need to do the decals.

I had a good RC day and a very bad RC day, this happened whilst I was testing a new motor on the table. I pooed myself, was very lucky it didn't spread .
