???mph

Just a Silver Can entry, I haven't run the 418 again yet :)

Tamiya TB04 Evo IV
44.8Mph - 72Kmh
Castle Sidewinder 3
Johnson Silver Can
3S Lipo
48dp, 64t Spur/ 47t Pinion
Tamiya Rubber Tyres

I hit 45Mph dead on another run but the video wasn't as good, I think 50Mph+ may be possible with the all mighty silver can

lol...

Glad my run was aborted today, I'd have not been happy at being wiped out again minutes after uploading

I geared up from 40t to 45t, but I think my motor is not performing since the last run as got exactly the same, and then a shock removed itself. I was going for 40+...may have to get a smaller spur now as well to get closer to 45!

Nice run

Nice run Fisher, that M06 looks great!

Did you order a whole nother M06 kit??? I know RWD is fish taily happy that's why I'm keen to up the speed in my FWD M03... I did notice it's still easy to spin around 180 degrees with it's shorter wheelbase though.

Thanks. I got a TT02R chassis kit, with intentions of running it as RWD. I didn't like my recent idea of using my Subaru XV TT02 for speed runs for a few reasons. I built it as a rally car, I didn't want to swap the gears out every time I wanted to use it for a different purpose, and the biggest reason: My girlfriend turned it into a drift van with a Toyota Hiace body she got. So, I figured a dedicated chassis was due, especially since I have been wanting to participate since you started this thread. So, it begins:

Nice and good luck with the build, I have one that I'm thinking about converting to TT02S Spec.  What motor and ESC are you going to be using?

Noticed that it appears that you have hidden all the pinion sizes in the picture

I have a cheap GoolRC 4370kv motor right now, but plan to get a Castle 5700 or 7700 in the next week or so.

Hiding the pinion sizes wasn't intentional to the picture or thread. I was flipping them over as I was reading them off of my order to make sure everything was correct. I've been learning from watching you guys. I have nothing to hide that you wouldn't already figure out. Based on all of your recommendations 48pitch is the way to go, so the sizes I got to start out with are:

22, 26, 30, 35, 37, 40, 47.

Box says "Take the TT02 Racing"... mentions nothing about drag racing!

Will be unusual to enter this as a RWD..... I should try it as a FWD! ;p

As a FWD, I bet you would have poor traction with all of the weight over the rear, though FWD could make for some quick fun with drift tires only on the rear.

I love their motors, if you can get an ESC that can handle either of those on 3s it will be truly mental :)

I posted about TT02 gearing previously, the best I managed to fit under the cover was a 55s/37p.  There are also a couple of running videos with said gearing and a Castle 4600kv in which it hit 65Mph with ease and would go much faster if it would only just go in a straight line   I personally wouldn't recommend a TT02 for speed runs as they cost a lot to put right and after they are still not as good as something like a TA05 which you can pick up for dirt cheap.

If you haven't already have a think about getting the Tamiya steering set and look into a TT02S front end conversion.

Didn't try with Foams...had traction issues and it resulted in rattling out a screw/braking a steering joint

I think the speed was about 10%-15% down on the 4wd runs at the time

But I reckon with some foams you may be ok, but not sure if it will make it much different speed wise.

I tried locking the front diff and it made the handling worse, I think a tighter front diff (plenty of grease) will give it better straight line stability, but don't lock it :)

Had a little tinker time today, so had a look at powering my SkyRC unit from the main LiPo. I didn't want to cut the lead off my battery for the plug as it is still functional, and also quite fragile, so went for the other option and sliced up a USB lead. I used the red and black lead and plumbed them into the main LiPo JST lead:

As you can see it works fine without the battery fitted. Below is a close up of the wiring connection:

img33435_825201743301_2.jpg

And the first cell has plenty of volts to show a charging indication:

img33435_825201743301_3.jpg

Very pleased with the result for half an hours bodgery, I've just got to decide now whether to solder the usb lead to an extension lead so I can still connect a low voltage alarm, or just put a JST socket on the end of the USB lead (Probably end up doing this I think).

I thought I'd pass on the info for all those using the SkyRC unit who have had battery issues, as both the USB lead and JST connector are readily available.

Thanks. I tried to fit a 40pinion in it this morning, but no matter how I massaged the YR motor mount, it just wouldn't let me put the cover all of the way on. Currently have 66s/37p until I finish building and run it. I have another TT02 and two TT02B's. The steering kit is a must have item. As for the TT02S front end conversion, that's just the longer TA05 control arms and hubs that make that up, correct?

It will still be silly fast on the 66/37 with either of those motors :)  Here's the list of parts I pulled together for a full conversion, It's quite big  and there are probably cheaper variants available.  You can see why I was having second thoughts!

Steel Suspension Mount set 54634
TT02s Front Shock Tower 54632 (Carbon but  FRP should be available)
*TT02's Rear Shcok Towrer 5463
Suspension Arms, TRF/TA05/FF03 style (418 arms are 54569)
Front Uprights 54568 or 51332
Hub Carrier 54580 or 54031
Suspension Shaft Set 53917 (must be a cheaper alt part but couldn't find it)
Flanged Tube and kingpin set 54075
Turnbuckles 32mm 54249 1/*2
Ball cup/adjuster 53601
*Rear Uprights 54570  (also need ball heads and 4mm spacers)

My mate just cancelled on me for speed runs today, I had the 418 packed and ready to go..........meh :(

Thanks for the list. Very helpful and much appreciated. It is quite a bit of stuff. I saved that info. I chose the TT02R due to the cheap price and all of the extra TT02 parts I have. Now that I see the differences between the S, I may have been better off getting that. Ah well. I'm going to see how it runs first before changing anything. In the end, I may wind up with a TT02R-S, lol.

As far as cancelling speed runs, we have a hurricane outside, so all I can do is build indoors. With all of this rain, it'll be a week before I can run anything.

Just been out and got another silver can 3S test run in with the Mad Bull, this time with a 19T pinion. Managed to get 53kph, so a 5kph improvement on the stock 17T pinion. Think I might be able to get a bit more from it as I only had a relatively short area in which to run it. Video as soon as I can get out with my cameraman, also planning on putting 20T pinions in the Juggernaut 2 and seeing what that will do.

Hmmm I'm outside painting a new Nissan 350z shell to go on a newly acquired not so fast TL01 Chassis that came NIB for a decent price.. I need to build it up tonight as I'll have a few hours free .... no time for speed runs though.. this TL01 is my new toy... totally pointless post belonging in the What have you done today thread!

Probably no runs from me this weekend. Need a new Silver Can for the TA04, and still hunting the Centre pulley to continue the 80mph Goal.

Although have this today...

Sand Master

£40 and just down the road, found some decent looking off road tracks around work for me and the lad to go to. I'll stick a mild brushless in it and stick some better tyres on :)

Cheers wooders, its so light though, gotta be half the weight of a mad bull?. I must weigh it and see.

It was a good run though, nice smooth car park on a Sunday just after 4pm.

On low gear it hit 17mph.
