I haven't tested them yet but I am impressed with the quality.

Just ordered a set thanks, bit steep on the postage!

They offer a build service of £30 for the M Rage kit too lol... pity they have no stock of it ;)

Police Scotland do not believe it to be necessarily a road offence and is more likely to come under reckless behaviour laws.

C'mon! You know what car it is!

I pretty much have this week off so will get the TA07 ready for a speed run in a couple of weeks. The motor is sorted, thats a 5.5T on 2s. I will be on the road which is pretty smooth but obviously not prepped so will have stones.

What ride height do people use?

What springs and shock oil?

Anything else I need to do as far as setup?

Take a yard brush with you and 'prep the track' 🤔😁

Low as you can, without bottoming out.

I went for a soft setup on all mine, (well anything quick, ie the rb5 i just ran on carpet set up), Anything too stiff and it'll bounce everywhere.

Something predictable, i turned the epa down on the steering, and altered the curve to give less aggressive steering at the start of the throw, full lock @60mph doesn't normally end well!

Do a couple of slow speed passes, see how she handles, check motor temps ( something I didn't do on the DT03 run, which looks like it overheated the motor, blew the esc and damaged a 3s and a 2s lipo - wont balance charge 😔)

Its currently got the kit damper oil (400wt i think, standard yellow stuff), so softer springs and I shoukd be good? I have spring kit 53440 so have some options.

Good point about steering epa, no doubt i will forget though.

I am most worried about the ESC so will try to take it easy. It is rated to 3.5T, hopefully it can handle 5.5T withsome boost...

Take it for a blast and see how it is, depends on the quality of the surface, weight of the car etc,

The esc should be fine if its rated for a 3.5t, if you've gone for super tall gearing, you may want to keep an eye on temps though.

It'll be your first run with a 5.5t, so just have a play, get used to what it's like, and have fun!! 🖒

When I run mine, I do a few practice runs to see how the car is going to react. Each run, I slowly increase take off power and top speed. Once I have a good feel for it, I check the temp of the motor / ESC, throw a new battery in and let it rip. I feel like the foam tires need a couple minutes of drive time to settle in to the road surface. Afterwards, I feel like I have more grip and can be a bit more aggressive on the trigger with confidence of knowing it's still going to run a straight line.

You need the coolest LeMans prototype body you can find.. it's required :P

Gentle on the throttle if you're a nut and did this with a 20mm shorter wheelbase touring car

I did my speed runs with a 5.5T on 2s with a SpeedPassion ESC rated for 5.5T.  It's completely fine but after about 5-10 full power runs the ESC goes into thermal shut-off, give it a few mins and let it cool and all is well. B)

Back home now after a week on the farm. Should have put a gps on the monster beetle to see what she can do.

The plan is to run it at the school on the 21.5T to see how it goes and get the setup sorted. And I'm really interested to see the difference between the motors as I don't see major differences between lap times.

I'm pretty sure my son will want a go too, monster beetle or novafox?

Both!

Agreed it's good to just swap out a motor and see what it does to the speed, my problem is I'm ending up with too many cars to properly concentrate on one and do this :(

I'd love to stick a stock built RC next to its race Tuned version ( with camber and toe and suspension etc adjusted/lowered) running the same electrics and see what difference a top speed run makes.

At the falkrirk indoor the other week, the 10.5t where running quicker than, say ,the 6.5t, mainly as there were sections of bare floor without carpet and they couldn't get the power down without spinning out.

I can't believe you've had the 5.5t this long and not run it!! Get out there man!! You need to run it for you to get used to it and to set it up!?!? 😎

Haha I know! I needed to wait til now for the road to be quiet though. I could try it at the school but I doubt there will be enough space

It won't get done today. My wife organised an impromptu bbq so we have 16 coming for dinner. I said I would sort the outside of the house so I pretty much just remowed my track and dug up potatoes, and will spebd the afternoon racing the Monster Beetle and Boomerang. To ensure I win the Monster Beetle is stock and the Boomerang is running 13.5T brushless

Is there any other type of BBQ?

I remember when we had Australian relatives stay with us, and they announced they were organising a BBQ for the following Saturday, oh we did laugh.....

So who’s next to try a speed run then guys... or rather... what car are you going to try next when you have time.

Mine should be the M03.

All you had to say was bbq. I wouldn't pass that up for anything. :)

Not quite the texas bbq but did fire up the coals and not just go with gas.

Do you do the 12hour slow cooked brisket and stuff or is that just an offensive stereotype of people from texas?

Me, if it doesn't rain Tuesday. I'll be running my RWD TT02 in hopes of getting closer to Wooders. I will also have an M05 coming up in a few weeks for the FWD class. Just about ready to make some test runs once I get the battery holder sorted out. Sounds like an M-chassis shootout! Care to discuss what you're running in your M03, or want to wait until we see each others times?

I'm not sure if there is an offensive stereotype for Texas people, lol. It's always fun to watch the people get off of the cruise ships in Galveston. You can always tell which ones are the tourists. They're the ones wearing brand new cowboy hats and fancy boots. It's like they think it's still the old west here.

I know people that do the long cook times, and there are meat shops called "Smokehouses" that make and sell it here. I have never tried cooking it myself. I am wayyyy to impatient for that. Once the food goes on, I am ready to eat it. :)
