i want to feel that mechanical speed controller resistor get hot ;)

will a mechanical controller take lipo? haha

JJ

It probably would, my Scorcher runs on a hobbywing brushed esc with pink actipower and 2s lipo. Accelerations is unreal.

I own a new in box Terra Scorcher and, willing to drive a Terra Scorcher, I bought another used one for few €.

When this used Terra Scorcher arrived I immediately realized that he was close to the new built condition so I had no heart to ruin it and it will stay new built as a shelf queen. Soon or late I will buy another used Terra scorcher to run it, hoping to find another cheap one but this time he must be badly battered.

That's an awesome find, it's just like your one from years ago. All you need now is a dynatech and it'll be like being 14 again ;-)

back on the tennis courts up the school at lunchtime with the 1200mAh battery packs and an overnight charge needed haha

i'm looking forward to it arriving

well apart from a broken battery holder (luckily modern technisport 2.4ghz still use EXACTLY the same holder) a new battery and some tweaking of the controller and this beast was off and running!

so much other cool vintage stuff included in the sale.....

The bag is in excellent condition with both cardboard panels

Hey @Problemchild what I suggest is this: by FAR the hardest thing to find for the Terra Scorcher is good quality original (white) wheels.  They were never released as spare parts so all those in circulation had to come from NIB kits.  If you plan to run it you should pick up some alternate wheels + tires for running and swap those on and off.  The rest of the chassis parts, etc are easy to find.  Original body is also hard to find but repros are available.  Original decals are scarce but not nearly as scarce as the wheels.

I had a lot of trouble locating decent original wheels for my previous Terra Scorcher and fitted white Vanquish wheels and tires instead and they look really smart on it, take standard-size 4wd tires and are far easier to find.  Even Bigwig Mooncraft wheels are easier to find (and it'll be interesting to see if the forthcoming re-re Bigwig wheels are a close copy of the originals).

Just noticed that the graphics on this are similar to the Neo Scorcher ones, it's nice to see where Tamiya got their ideas from, harking back to older models.

Awww man - how much do I regret EVER selling mine!!! :( Yours looks just like mine did - even the metallic blue paint *sigh*

I've promised myself a replacement one day, but it doesn't hurt any less seeing such beautiful examples of "the one that got away"

Enjoy JJ (we even share initials - creepy eh?)
