It seems we all have one, a project queue.  Some items on the list are bigger than others.  Projects get put into the queue because of limitations on time, money, space, whatever.  I thought it might be cathartic to share our queue with each other.  Misery loves company right?

In no particular order my current queue is:

TT-02B -

  • re-upgrade the front suspension mount to FRP (daughter snapped it on the first go)
  • replace the badly cracked rear wing

CC-01 -

  • upgrade the KRT Kong wheels and tires to RC4WD steel beadlocks and scale tires
  • upgrade stock front bumper with a nice Integy jobber, maybe with lights
  • upgrade the shock springs to barrel type

TRF 201 (racer)-

  • migrate race platform to a TRF 211XM

Grasshopper -

  • Complete the box art version of the body
  • Replace the FAV wheels and tires with stock smoothies and paddle type tires

TT-02 -

  • replace slicks with treaded tires to align with USGT class guidelines
  • install transponder lap counter

Decide if over the holiday break I'm going to build a

  • TA-07 Pro
  • M05-R spec

Losi Ten SCTE -

  • rebuild all 3 differentials
  • replace all out drives, drive shafts and dog bones
  • paint up a new body for the 2017 race season

I think that's the bulk of my to-do list.  How about you?  What do you have on your plate?

I try to keep up with all my hop ups or upgrades when they come in but there is numerous i still havent gotten too.

I have 3 packages of reinforced adjusters for all 3 cars i still havent installed

Change my dn-01 to hex rear wheels and glue another set of proline blockades. I want to rebuild the ball diff on my dn01 because it started to slightly bark and its been over 4 months since i last done it.

Then there is the things i want to do next, go brushless with my tt-02b ms, add aluminum shocks to my dn-01 and find a quality aluminum set of rear hubs for my aqroshot because i have broken 2 already

Good topic. I've actually been steadily plugging away at my list and finishing up some projects. My Mountaineer is done as is my Scorpion re-do in red. I just finished up painting the shell for my Monster Racer too. But there's always more to do...

Decide if I should finish my Bennett Mod Clod or disassemble it for a more stock-ish build

Try to gather up the parts for a Monster Mack 6x6 Clod. I've had the body for years now.

Finish my original RC10 boxart body

Finally develop an IRS system for my Lunch Box

Put my ORV spares together to make a Mud Blaster or Brat (or ORV-based Ranger, can't decide)

Get my Sand Viper body painted (just finished masking it)

Of course all these projects will get swept aside when I get my greedy paws on the Egress coming in the post. Can't wait!

Paint Shell for WT-01

install alloy front and rear hubs on WT-01

replace broken rear gearbox casing on DF-03ra and install 5 aluminium hop up parts

Swap out 27mhz radio for 2.4Ghz on DF03ra

Fit alloy central drive shaft in TT02

change M-06 wheelbase to 225mm (m) length

paint BMW Shell for M-06 in 225mm wheelbase length

Not too much but enough to keep me planning... and there a new to me CC01 Rolling chassis inbound any day too :)

What a great thread, I'm sure there is some stuff I can't remember but it's a bit like this...

NIB yet to build

-Avante Black Special

-Sand Scorcher

-Bruiser runner including various hop ups.

Builds to complete

-Bruiser shelfer - Just needs a couple more coats of clear coat, re-assembling body shell and tidying up LED install and swap receiver for new futaba

-Mountaineer Shelfer - Some more clear coat, decals then more clear, re-assemble body and tidy up LED install. And paint rear window surround that got forgotten when main paint job done!!

- Vintage Hilux - Needs total strip/cleandown/polishing and refitting with ESC, fit rx from bruiser above, paint spare shell, procure a matching S9405 Futaba servo.

- Wild Willy 2 - Finish off driver so I can reattach dashboard and front windscreen.

- Honda City Turbo - Paint Senna driver helmet (body done).

- GF01 Landcruiser interior to start and finish including driver.

- Hornet - Driver figure to do.

- DT03T - Finish Hilux MR bodyshell and fit Hop Up parts when they eventually arrive after ordering about 3 weeks ago from UK!

Modifications to built models

- WT01N - fit 20T pinion and replacement diff internal gear (internal gear was robbed to lock the diff on a TA02). Play with new gears that should arrive in next couple of days.

- Bullhead - Fit Dual Quicrun ESC, eventually sort out servo on each axle a la Mad Inventor style and then convert to better dampers.

- Upgrade receivers/ESC to a couple of models as part of ongoing drive to update brushed ESC's to lipo comp (1060wp) and RX to Futaba for 10J TX radio.

Other

- Trim, clean, mask, paint various bodyshells - R32 GTR, Lunchbox, Mad Bull, Mrs' Mustang, Hornet shelfer, Aqroshot shell, Spare Aero Avante and Brat shells, trim Amarok arches on painted shell.

- Upgrade ESC's on my old touring cars and sell that awful Mtronics RV11? horrible soft start reverse esc that is on my drifter!

- Inspect and repair as necessary plus convert msc to esc on latest ebay madness purchase (another WR01!!)

I've only been experimenting like this in the last year. This is only for hard shells but I now have an airbrush setup and I'm using a Churchills 1k clear coat http://www.churchill-paints.co.uk/churchill-paints/clearcoats/1k-rfu-clear-lacquer . After a couple of run mark issues with trial mad bull shell, I've found mixing in 20% cellulose thinners http://www.churchill-paints.co.uk/churchill-paints/thinners-and-solvents/standard-cellulose-thinner has made it go on far better and allow me to get that glass finish I'm after. When thinned though, it means you need more coats.

It has come out great so far and seals the decals in so they can't lift and peel, you know what it's like when dirt gets under them etc. This is for shelfers mainly and I use a regular jsp mask with filters http://www.protectivemasksdirect.co.uk/jsp-force-8-mask--p2-particulate-protection-903-p.asp?gclid=CN7HlN6-5s8CFQaeGwod8Q0L3A to spray (the thinners is probably the worst thing). I'm using Createx http://www.createxcolors.com/ auto air or Wicked range of water based paint and I use a plastic etcher from churchills as my primer http://www.churchill-paints.co.uk/churchill-paints/primers/1K-plastic-primer on hard shells.

For Lexan, I just spray directly with water based paint to shell, then back with the clear coat, it has been really durable and flexi on them. I'll be running a painted runner hard shell when I build my Bruiser runner so can comment more on longevity then.

Thanks a lot Nito, a lot there to take in, and researching it a bit more will be on my project list... which is atleast relevant to this thread topic ;p

Oh, where do I begin?

I'm going to start by looking around my shelves and picking up everything I see.  This isn't in any particular order:

TB01 Rally - paint new Celica shell in SCRAPSpeed colours to replace the Imprezza shell that I've always detested

Project Ringpull - make or buy leaf springs for authentic suspension; source some short springless dampers; fit proper propshafts

Bowler Wildcat - source softer springs, make stronger body mounts, paint chassis components

MAN TGX - build behind-cab cabinet for all electrics, then paint and fit original interior

SCX-10 - find an paint a better-looking body

Hotshot - source better shocks for the 4-shock conversion

Custom Humvee - ground-up rebuild, bought as a runner but could be rebuilt with better scale looks

TA03-FS Drifter - still undecided, considering bodging up a Mad Max-style drift truck out of some battered old shells

Buggy Champ - paint NIB Scorcher re-re shell in Buggy Champ boxart

TT02D Toyota Chaser - build interior

TT01 S15 - replace beautiful but painfully narrow Tamiya shell with 200mm HPI shell and fit wider rims

SRB Lightweight - add paint details to acquired Blitzer Beetle shell and mount to near-complete chassis; modify gearbox to allow modern motor

TA02T F150 - buy winch and make RC tow rig, modify shell to fit, return to service

CC01 F150 - lots of little parts to paint and fit to shell, then it should be done?  A few more scale bits to make too

TL01 Shorty F150 Rat - finish making light / grille details and add scale details to shell

Blown57 - build interior, paint chassis, paint shell, admire

Budget Buster Mod Clod - figure out why it's stupidly slow on 4s LiPo, buy better shocks when budget allows

Budget Bruiser Scout Scaler - make body mounts, trim unrequired bits off axles

MAN race truck - paint shell and body parts

Bruder low-loader - extend, paint, build pit garage onto area not covered with MAN race truck, fit lighting kit - long winter project

F150 Street Truck on M04-XL-LA - many hours of sanding and filling to get the shell looking good, then paint and finish

TA02T Desert Fielder - decide on paint scheme

M03L - paint CRX shell

SRB Shelfer - rebuild chassis from ground up, paint re-re shell in boxart colours

Wild Dagger - full rebuild, source attractive shell and paint

I think that's it.  I might stick my head onto the storage shelf in the garage later and find a dozen others that I'd forgotten about :P

Is it only me that's reading these posts and thinking -  SHOPPING LIST - with a view to contacting a member via PM with an offer on one of their cars?!

over the years i acquired some cars, mostly used vehicles, in order to refurbish them. however, time is very limited and i managed to build a madbull and am currently working on a grasshopper with some upgrades; in parallel i try to restore the one or the other car body eg sonic fighter.

the cars are disassembled, packed in zip-lock bags waiting to be rebulild/refurbished etc.  i managed to get some hop-ups/mods for almost all cars i own, but still they all are in a queue

cars waiting, in no particular order:

super sabre, monster beetle, wild willy2, tlt1, txt1, twin detonator, sonic fighter, bear hawk, vanquish, dyna blaster, dyna storm, king cab, stadium blitzer, frog, lunch box (nib), manta ray, nova fox (nib), rising storm, clod buster, bmx schnitzer (nib) and a thunder blitz B)

thats my unbuilt collection from the last years. my price limit was eur 150.- per car and only the nova fox was a little bit more expensive. usually i could stay far below the eur 100 threshold.

Projects

Super Hotshot
In a moment of sheer brilliance I decided to tear it apart in order to see if I'd built it wrong since it had the turning radius of a supertanker. Well, when I say sheer brilliance I mean utter stupidity as it's still in fifteen pieces and thus magnificently undriveable.
+ the esc in my nephews Blitzer Beetle died so I gave him the esc and motor from the super hotshot.
= all in all I've got some rebuilding to do, and I want to give it a slightly faster motor.

Bison F10
This got quickly bumped down the queue because of the pain of removing the old tires from the rim, but after reading someone on here (Effigy?) having a nice solution for that I'm looking forward to getting my first buggy closer to its former glory.

Rere Optima
I need to get the driver and cockpit in.

NIB in the build queue
Terra Conqueror
Avante Black Special
Rere Avante
Rere Top Force
Rere Kyosho Beetle
Rere RC10
Rere RC10 Worlds
Rere Monster Beetle
Vajra

Track
I absolutely loved driving on the track I built, that being said it's very much a work in progress. I should probably make a thread to get some layout ideas and pointers in general as I have absolutely no idea on what it should or could be like.

I like to keep things running, so new stuff takes time.  I've only done a complete rebuild on 3 cars (usually bought used to begin with).  I've only built 2 kits from start to finish.

That said I have you know I'm nearly ready to take my Instrument Rating test, after that is done:

TA05-S (it's down to servo-mount/esc/motor and figure out body mounting, that's it!  it's only been 1.5 years in the making)
M06 (no rush, have a set of wheels which will come eventually)
FGX (I have 4 of 'em, one runs but i want to repaint some of the new shell, the others are just waiting)
TA02SW (super low priority, but I have a new idea for something fun to do with it)

Next year I'll be in the market for one of those fancy IFS-equipped TA06s; subsequently,  do all TA06 kits include the IFS setup?

I look forward to that thread!

Is a RC project ever really done?  I need to:

  • add a smoke unit to my Lunch Box (showroom entry)
  • add lighting to my Unimog (showroom entry)
  • paint cockpits/driver figures for my Mazda 787B, Lotus Type 79, and R91CP (here, here, and here)
  • finish the front grill and rear aero on my Nissan GTR LM Nismo (build thread)
  • install electronics and finish a body for my TB EVO 6
  • finish a replacement AMC Javelin shell for my OFNA VTA car.
  • upgrade my DB01Rs to DB01RRs with the parts I have been storing
  • finish my Heavy Dump Truck build (build thread)

At my current rate of progress it may be another year before I'm done...

I keep a notebook detailing my car purchases, plans for each one and a diary of when I work on them. It is a record of achievement and a motivational tool!

My current queue is

TL01 Bowler Wildcat - finish trimming shell, mount and paint

Wild Willy 2 - wheel swap (steering rods in the post)

M04 - mount BMW 2002 shell, purchase wheels, tyres, ESC, receiver, stealth body mounts

In addition, there are a couple of TL01s, an M03, a Dual Hunter and my recent Hotshot purchase which all require varying degrees of attention.

I'd like to finish at least one of my projects so I can add a Showroom entry on TC and get an Avatar image! It is nearly a year since I joined.

This is a great idea, and I've been meaning to do an updated list like this for myself. This is long, so maybe grab a cuppa first

The first few items on my list are kinda non-rc related, but essential.

First thing is to build a shed. I have the shed and timber, just need the time to build. Its a 4.1 x 2.3m and will be used for storage plus I'll put my spay booth in there. I'd love a bigger shed, but that would involve council approvals and it gets dearer etc.

The next on the list is to clear our my garage and underneath my house and move stuff I can into my shed, or if possible take to the tip.

Once that is done, I can get my desk back from my mums. That will give me back a proper place to sit down and do RC and some scale modelling work, I'll finally have a good place for the 3D printer too. I've also got some upgrades to do to the 3D printer, mainly print the remaining supports for the x,y,z axis rods, convert print bed to glass, machine some aluminium brackets to firm up the print bed.

From there I need to finish my upgrades to the vac former so I can vac form 1 mm polycarbonate.

Then I can get onto these projects in rough order.

Make hydostone copies of the Mk 1 & 11 Ford Escort and Mk 1 Cortina.  I intend on modifying them so I can vac form in one piece and 3D print or cnc proper grills, lights, side mirrors etc. These will go onto some TA02 chassis I have.

3D print Volvo body and vac form for my Volvo project. I'll also need to make decals etc and it will be mounted to a FF01 chassis I have to clean and rebuild.

1 x Marui Big Bear, just needs a clean, repaint and rebuild. I'll make a new set of stickers.

2nd Big Bear, I am missing the chassis, so I will machine one out of aluminium. I've worked out a design and made a plastic version.

Audi Quattro, since I ruined the body trying to remove paint, I will re-cast it and vac form a new one.

The rest of my projects in no particular order:

Custom Jobs:

Delorean DMC-12 car body. I have a 3D model just have to print it out to scale and vac form etc.

A FAB1. My son got really into the newest version of Thunderbirds and I thought it would be fun to scratch build a FAB1. I don't mind the look of the latest version.

Restorations:

58001 - Porsche: I've slowly been collecting pieces for this build. All I really need now is a chassis plate and I could make a car. The body I have is from the model kit from a few years later and i have various original chassis parts from NIP to heavily used.

58005 Countach - This is another car I obtained from multiple sources. I've cleaned and repainted the body, now I just need to finish painting the details and rebuild it.

58009 Celia LB Turbo - The body is in lots of pieces being heavily damaged from when I strapped model rocket engines to it. At least it went fast! Now it needs a lot of work to rebuild, but I have all the pieces and have started repair work. Ironically repairing this was what got me back into rc cars. That was around 5 years ago now!

2nd Celica LB Turbo - In my quest to get the missing pieces from my smashed Celica LB Turbo, I now have enough parts to make another car, including the NIP re-release of the body.

58011 Ferrari 312T3 - bought as an unfinished build. Missing a couple of minor pieces, and I will have to strip the body. I came with both the hard plastic and polycarb body, plus 2 tamiya NiCad batteries that look like they have never been used.

58012 Ligier JS9 Mantra CS - I bought this one heavily used and the body will need extensive repairs to the front. I also have a second one (mainly just the body), that I bought to copy the missing pieces I need. I intend on making two complete cars.

58013 March 782 BMW - NIB, I bought this out of Israel and will probably make it one day. Its NIB, but the plastic packaging inside is starting to crack and fail apart.

58014 Martini Mk22 Renault - another car I have two of. One I have restored, although its since had an accident and needs a repair on the front. I have another from various sources to make a car. I've only stripped and undercoated the body so far.

re-re Sand Scorcher - Still in its box, waiting to be built.

58018 Ralt RT2 Hart 420R - complete but well used car. Body will need repairs.

58031 Braham BT50 - Only really have the body of this one.

58038_Brat - Body is damaged and needs to be repair. I did friction weld the damaged area, even did a how to on that. Still needs to be completely stripped, cleaned, new tires, paint and a rebuild. I want to paint this as a well used vehicle.

58041 Frog x 2 - after wanting one for ages, I managed to end up with two well used cars. Both still waiting for a tear down and clean.

58043_Grasshopper - another car sourced from multiple places to make one car. Same story, needs a tear down and clean. I should have all the pieces now though.

58052 Newman Porsche 956 RM Mk 7 - I think I have all the pieces for this, and bought a later version body.

58053 Road Wizard - bought from a junk lot, I think I can make two cars from what I have, but I will need to vac form new bodies. I've had one attempt so far, with promising results, but I'd like to try again.

Chrome_Midnight_Pumpkin - theres a theme here, another car I have sourced from multiple places. I'm pretty sure I need to revisit this one to see what pieces I am missing, but I think I have about 90% of the car.

58102 Mazda 787B - when I got the road wizard junk yard lot, I also got some group c parts. I've been slowly adding to that to make a Mazda 787B. Now I am only missing the foam tires.

58117 Lancia Delta HF - all the bits are there, new body, just waiting for a clean and rebuild.

58129 Castrol Celica 93 Monte-Carlo - this one just needs a clean, but there is some body damage I will have to deal with at some point.

58149_Rover_Mini_Cooper_M01 - I have two MO1 minis, one is missing the running gear - drive shafts etc. Both need a make over on the bodies.

58160_Dirt Thrasher - this was originally a friends car. Needs a new body and front shock tower to make it go again.

58210_T0A3FR_Subaru - won on eBay for a fair price. Needs a clean and it will probably go.

TL01 with a Pantera De Tomaso body. I have damaged my original Pantera body, so I've bought a new one. I'd like to add more detail, including re-doing the pop-up headlights

And Lets not forget the Non-Tamiya builds!

A number of Marui Galaxy's - I think I have enough parts to restore my original one and make another 4, including the red version

2 x Marui Hunters. I can do two, but will have to vac form at least one body. And after all these are restored I will have lots of parts left over, so maybe I can make another car or two

Nichimo Luminous - this is pretty much a complete car. The body needs to be stripped and repainted though, but the chassis is pretty clean and seen little use.

Nichimo Porsche 935 - I only have the chassis and while not damaged, will need a lot of cleaning. One of the front hubs is broken too and I don't have the body. I might end up looking for a tamtech body for this one, and I'll probably need to make my own mounting brackets.

Aoshima FJ40 - I was given this body by a friend and will eventually get a properly crawling chassis for it.

ok, so thats about it as my brain has gone numb.

As I have too long a project list, I won't be buying any cars for a while!  but to be honest there isn't much I want, although one day I'd like to get a Bruiser or similar.

My list is very short by comparison to the others on here:

DF-01 Mad Bull - Source a set of normal buggy-size wheels and tyres for it, and try running it as a standard buggy for a while. My two mates who are into RC both have RWD buggies, and I think it would be nice to go bashing with them driving a vehicle that falls into the same class more or less.

F103RS - Source a second shell for it so that I can have one neat one for shelf display and one expendable one for racing that doesn't make me cringe every time another car comes within a meter of it. I might also add a set of turnbuckle tierods as the stock ones with their Z-bend fittings to the servo saver don't look or feel terribly precise.

???? - Decide what to add to the fleet next. The touring car class looks like fun, but then so do scalers, and I might want a WT-01 for more extreme offroading if my Mad Bull becomes an ordinary buggy, and there is talk of a drift club starting at work, and and and....

I too have a few to do, but lack of space/enthusiasm/skills/resources have put a hold on them!

FF-01 - Chassis is done, mk2 Golf Gti shell needs painting and detailing

M-05 Mk1 Golf - Needs painting (those Kamei colours though!) and I was trying to make a cockpit for it, half-way done!

Madbull - found in a cupboard, completely forgot I had this! Needs a new shell, stickers and electrics

Blitzer Beetle - bought from Grumpypants a while back, its been in the boot of my car ever since! Doesn't actually need much to make it a runner except electrics, but they are all buried in my storage container at the moment!

Re-re Wild Willy - another one bought from Grumpypants, still needs building from where Simon left it, wanted to paint it to look like a Transformer called Skids and add the stickers, but alas its still half-built and in storage

RadioShack Audi Quattro - an ebay win, need to test it and I may repaint it red. Not going to happen anytime soon though!

There are others, but life has a way of changing your priorities, plus I have a huge Lego Porsche RS3 to build and find a home for too!

Old School!

I keep an excel spreadsheet ;)

I have one too but I can't doodle in Excel ;-) and I didn't enjoy watching my spending rack up. I ought to update my 'accounts'! It was useful tracking what I bought from where and comparing prices.

Also in my queue are shelves and individual boxes for my cars. I'm part way there, the garage is half-cleared and the WW2 and Hotshot have their own crates. I've the shelving picked (it has taken me so long that Ikea has managed to open in Reading) - need some time to do a tip run!

Build/mod/paint the shell for my M06 Pumpkin.

Paint/decal/fit the shell for my CW01 Unimog, and fit the FX10 kit. Then buy/build another CW01 for the Fuzzbox shell that's on there now.

Paint the shell for my wife's M03 Mini Cooper.

Start my re-re Brat. Then turn it into a Lancia Rally using my 037 shell.

Paint/decal my Laguna shell and fit it to my ZX-RS500.

Start my NSR500.

Fix/tidy-up my Hi-Rider Corvette.

Build my Lego Unimog and Mercedes truck kits.

Pah shelves, stackable vivariums are all the rage now, check the last couple of posts in the war rig thread, you might see something you fancy :)
